I just purchased my first Cobra its a 97 White Cobra Coup. It looked stock besides the saleen wing and hood (not a fan) But I looked at it and I found it had Borla catback, Hurt shifter, C&L 80mm Maf, K7N filter, recaro seats and msd wires. heres some pics.

I just purchased the Cobra rear bumper inserts, and Front Cobra grill emblem.

I want to buy some rims and im either looking at the Fr500's in athracite or Black. I can get them in 17x9 front and 17x10.5 in rear with tires 245/40s and 315/35. For 1000 bucks.
What yall think? Should I go 18? Or different wheels?

Looks good man, very clean.  I was always a fan of the Saleen wheels on that year car.  I think that if you got a set of those, in 18" sizes, it would look great.  May even look really good with white Saleens.  Just a thought.

wow nice ride man.  Oh and about the wheels IMO I would go 17".  I accually had 18" Y2K cobra R's on before and I went down to 17's because of the tire cost.  If you can afford the tires then definately go 18 because it will without a doubt look better.  But, I have 315's in the back that cost me about $175 a piece for the rear tires and if I had 18's in a 305 it would've been $285 a tire.

Nice score.
+1 on the 17's. Also the 18's are very heavy and the tire's are rediculous $.

How much did you pay for them? I paid $3 for them on ebay with a $2 shipping charge....so a total of $5...compared to these places selling them....i've seen between $22-75. That's INSANE.

Clean ass cobra. I agree with whoever said to put on white saleens. They would make this car look badass.

First of all, beautiful cobra... But did you get a carfax??? It looks to me like the front is all out of wack like where the hood meets the headlights and where headlights meet the corner lights there's gaps like it was in an accident or something? Maybe I'm trippin...

I think it is the aftermarket hood that is throwing you off.  It doesn't fit as well as the stock hood, at least at the front.  If you look at the 1997 Cobra picture in this link, notice there is not a big difference comparing just the lights and ignoring how the hood fits.

Ok are you guys kidding me??? Look at the corner lights where they're supposed to be flush with the headlamps. You guys don't see that. yeah the hood doesn't come close to matching up but look at the front on view. Those lights are completely twisted up and un-even... Blacksnake what is a TA? I'm not sure... and cobrabob take a closer look, You're telling me all you see is the hood? I don't know I'm thinking he hit a pole or something and did a little home jobby repair and f***ed it all off. I'm not slammin your car dude I just noticed it. Does it drive weird at all?

TA Means Traffic Acceident. Yea I notied it and noticed the repairs. The reason the head light is like that is because it is broken from behind. So it doesnt stay in placeIt doesnt drive wierd at all, doesnt pull to one side or anything, the door lines still lines up and so does the fender. Im looking for a stock Cobra Hood. I know your not slaming my car but I cant argue with the price I got it for 7000 with 80000 miles and handful of mods.

Sounds like a good deal.  I will go with the crowd and agree that you will find better deals on 17 tires, and find more of them.  I almost got stranded in the mountains this weekend (keg of nails in the road - 11 patches in my rear tires, 8 in my buddy's).  If they could not have patched the tires to get me home, getting 295/35R18s (I was not driving the Mustang) hours from anything could have taken a week.  My friend's 17s would have been much easier to find.
