Default 4.2L kits

If I was to put together to sell brand new 4.2 V6 stroker kits which would come with a 4.2L crankshaft, 6 connecting rods, 6 pistons, and maybe a pulley depending on the year of your car. What would be a fair price for all of that. Keep in mind this would be BRAND new parts!!! BRAND new!!! I was think somewhere around $800+ shipping If you didn't want a pulley, make it $700 plus shipping.

all you need is the crank why would people want new weak pistons? maybe if you upgraded to forged for a blower or nitrous set up but new weak un-needed pistons? that dosent make sense

I don't understand why you say the pistons are weak?!?! They're not weak at all. As long as you run light to moderate boost 5-11psi, the pistons will hold up just fine. I know of a few people with prochargers with the 11psi setup and stock 4.2 internals.

yea i dont understand why they would be weak... as long as the engine is built and tuned correctly you should be ok.

i didnt say it will break but most likey even with good tune the stock hypereutectic sp? pistons can break and if you are gonna take out the stock internals you are better off spending a few extra bucks and building a forged shortblock and not have to worry about it...and thats only if you are gonna boost it...if not there is NO need to replace the stock internals for a 4.2 build up

The stroker kit sounds like a good idea. Will the 3.8 pistons fit on the 4.2 connecting rods? Slegos I understand what you are saying. If you are adding boost or nitrous to any car you would be stupid not to replace the internals with forged parts especially if your not using an intercooler. Even at running low boost you are putting your engine in danger. This kit would be ideal for someone who isn't looking to supercharger there mustang but want more power out of it.

and i agree with you but buying new rods and pistons if you arent boosting is pointless you dont need them the 4.2 and 3.8 interenals are the same minus the crank!!!!!

i think the 4.2 rods are different lengths than the 3.8 rods.

I see what your saying Slego because it's alot of work swaping out to a 4.2 stroke. But on the other hand, you can boost the shizz out of stock 3.8 internals. The 3.8 block and bottom end has never, EVER been an issue in high performance V6's. It's always been heads (which cause a chain reaction of probs) Transmissions and rear ends. If your building a drag racer that only touches a track, sure forge that bish and build the fug out of it. But now your in a whole differant world.
