high all my dad, uncle qwen, uncle landon, and i had a long discusion/argument about the pros and cons and why we like/want big blocks or small blocks or even the *gulps* I6. i said it's gotta be a big block or nothin in my car, qwen agreed, landon said a small, and *i wanted to slap him but he was right* my dad said that a I6 300 was the was to go, considering he can make one push 480 hp. now me and qwen couldn't agree on supers, turboes, or naturally asperated motors, i said dual turbos and an 8-71 blower, he wanted just two plain jane holley douple-pump 750's. now landon, you'd have see him, mabey i take a pic of him one of these days, said it's gotta be a small blockbecause of how fast it'll wind up. now for my father he said that he can make the other 300 we have, just as bad as the one in the one ton, now here is what is in the 1-ton, a scat 9000 series crank and rods, clevite 77 berings throughout, pete jackson idlers, offenhauser 4-bbl aluminum intake, holly 850 vaccum secodary carb, and a comp cam with 682/693 @690/700, o and mahle forged pistons and, beleive it or not, but total seal gapless moly rings. so tell me your side of it, which one should go in the 70'

i like the idea of big blocks. the i6 is cool and the design pros is it could produce potentially more torque for the displacement. i just think turbos go on efi

1. I have no idea what you just said.
2. You want to run a TT set up with a blower?
3.  Small blocks > *

It depends on what you wanna do with it. For street performance with weekends at the track, you can't beat a small block. You can build a small block that'll put down more power than you could control on the street, and you could do the same with a big block, only the small block will ALWAYS weigh less, and ALWAYS rev into it's power range faster. Big blocks are good for full race, like a B/Gas car because when you get into the insane power levels of a track in an environment you can control it, small blocks get more expensive to build and have stay in 1 piece than a big block does, and big blocks can realise more power. The problem with a big block for the street is that you reach a point where you have wild torque, but you're still a big fat tub. They say there's no replacement for displacement, but really there's no replacement for weighing less.

As far as f/i or nitrous, it really depends on the setup. Roots blowers are the cheapest, but least efficient, turbo is the most expensive but most efficient, you get what you pay for. There is something to be said about a 10sec street car all engine, but regardless of how you get there, it's still impressive. Small blocks can make wicked power on the street in a much lighter package. If you don't believe me then take a big block street car and go race an 03 Mustang Cobra, you'll prolly get your ass handed to you, especially if it's been modded, and it's only got 281 cubic inches. That's what a good supercharger on a tiny small block can do. I've never encountered a big block car on the street that's impressed me. Race car, oh yes, plenty, but street, no.

If it's a race car, then big block. Good heads, wild cam, spray another 500 on top
