I am thinking of putting lambo doors (not gullwing) on my '96 GT. I have been looking at a couple of kits @ GTfactory.com, puremustangperformance.com, etc. Any ideas, suggestions, inputs, or possible problems with this idea?

do it!! they look awesome!!, I have heard of sealing issues with cheap kits, but other than that, they are nice!

youll most likely pay more to maintain those doors than you will for your engine....

I've heard some things about leaking through the window seals and things, but I'm not entirely sure on that. There's a guy on here with a kit on his mustang, and it looks hot!! I'd go for it if you have the cash and want your car to stand out.

I would go for it. I read some articles in a mustang mag but I do not remember which one and the only thing that they said was to stay away from the cheaper ones.

i would be careful. i heard bad stories about people not shutting them right and scratching the paint. NOT worth the money

Thats what i Think

There are some really nice kits out there, that are custom fitted for your car and specific needs, but yes they will be more expensive, many of these come with warrenties for leakage.

They do look good. I have a friend with an eclipse that has them... My cousin's RSX has them... Can you see where I'm going with this? It's the type of mod for that one guy who brings his Mustang to hot import nights. hmm... now gull wing would be bad ass and it's not the current hot import trend (yet).

I see where you are coming from but I have seen some stangs with it. In my area there are only two cars that I have seen with it. They are both imports (Civic and Celica) but, do you think that is enough to set a precedent on being a ricier upgrade?

It'd be debated, surely... but I don't see it being a ricer upgrade at all. If your car is for show and it's to make your car stand out, then have fun with it. Just don't put wacky colors, a big ass wing, and stickers on the ride, and you're set.

Then again, some people think ANY appearance mods are rice. So it really depends who you ask.

i would defly do it i think they are soo awesome nut i dont have that kinda money. the good kits dont leak. there is an eclipse here that has them and he said and i saw it happen on his car that in the winter the pistons (on the doors) get cold and they lose some pressure and the doors will sumtimes fall. They wont stay up on their own thats only in the winter other then that his are fine all the time and he never complains

Labo doors come on lamborghinis, and hot euro/ domestic sports cars you see where I'M GOING with this??? ricers are just stupid posers. I dont know if you have found this out yet but a civic is not a sports car, a mustang IS! They are called lambo doors because they originally come from lamborghinis which everyone knows is not rice. Go ahead and get them if you want, you'll be lookin PIMP while the gay ricers will be lookin hella stupid, with their slow 4 banger wanna bees.

Thanks for advice. I am leaning toward a kit from puremustangperformance.com. From talking to them, they say they r for stangs and don't need modification. Yes, they are salespeople. It should be on "Zoie" in the near future then there will be some high resolution pics here!![sm=smiley20.gif]

Can a mustang even have gullwing doors? I don't think they can because the door doesnt have the trim on the top of the door we just have the window.

I have only seen them for '94 on up mustangs but that does not mean that they do not exist. Try the site I listed earlier, it is nice and the people you talk to on the phone are helpful. They may be able to help you out. There are always the "universal" kits but after some research, I have been leaning away from them because they require major mods and are "universal." Most times something is universal, it doesn't fit perfect on anything, it just fits OK on everything....leaks, scratches, uneveness, etc.

i've seen a few 99+ with the doors. looks better on the 94-98 IMO
