i put a plastic bag over the carb and dizzy and use a power washer just dont do it too much will make the plugs rust.are you going for a first time cleaning or shining it up for a carshow.
well its just dirty with dirt oil and other stuff. i just want it to look nice.

Your gonna think I'm nuts!Sure the auto degreasers work, but if you got some subborn stuff, I found a degreaser at HomeDepot, made by ChemDry, called Stain Extinguisher, oil and grease remover, with the carpet spot removers,in the cleaning section with mops and brooms. Used it on the bottom of my '66 after I bought it. Was stunned at the results! Took it all the way down to the factory paint, and never damaged the primer. Asoft brissle brush on the stubborn spots helps. I've used everything in the past, and this was absolutely the best andeasiest! Spray it on, let it soak in, and wipe it down with a rag.
There is another Home Depot (and others) product called 'Krud Kutter' found in the paint section. It's a paint remover too so be careful. I used it on a Top Loader and it cleaned up nice. I'll give the 'Chem-Dry' stuff a try. Always looking for something new. Another product to try is 'Eazy-Off' oven cleaner. My ex-boss used that on his 39 Lincoln Zepher project.
