Default Rebuilding my 07, the saga begins *Updated* 56K Warning

**I do not recomend trying some of these procedure on your own unless you are experienced and have some righteous tools.(I have neither but my step dad does)**

I recently purchased an 07 Mustang that was a theft recovery. It has some damage to the rear and looks a bit funny due to it's unique paint job but it still has great potential. Last weekend I started rebuilding it and took a number of pictures so I figured I share my experience.
Here's how my baby looked when I first got her last Friday.

Ugly ain't she? Dirty and abused but she only had 1400 miles on her when I got it.

First thing I did of course was to clean out the inside of the car. It was chock full of fun stuff. Here is a short list of some of the goodies I found inside this beast.
1. 14 bullets.(mostly 22's but one was a 9mm)
2. A syringe
3. 8 empty cans of spray paint
4. Various construction items and tools mostly used in roofing
5. Small speaker from a boombox
6. Trash and lots of dust and dirt

There were also a number of things missing from the car. The orginal radio was gone and replaced with a non working one. Rear view mirror broken off, reading lights disconnected and changed to red and blue bulbs, drivers side rail torn off, pony missing from the front grill, and the Mustang trunk lid emblem. Oh and the drivers side seat belt was cut.
As you can see it was painted a lovely black with an off center green stripe. The car was originally Torch Red and has a Charcoal colored interior.
There are no mechanical problems with it that we know of and she drives like a dream.

Saturday I took her out to my step fathers garage to get started.
We began with repairing the damage to the rear right side of the car. We would need to do a pull on the quarter panel first. To start this I parked the car outside between two trees and connect a log chain to the front frame of the car and the other end to a tree.

Then removed the back bumper cover and tail light.

Now we're ready to weld a hook to the back of the quarter panel and attach the winch.

The other end of the winch is attached to another log chain that is around the tree behind the car.

Slowly we start to pull the quarter panel back into shape.

I will continue this post later today.

How did it get so dirty with only 1400 miles on it?

I can't believe a car can get that thrashed in less than 1,500 miles!
Good Luck!

Looks like they stole it and then sprayed it black because they were on the lookout "for a red mustang".

jeezo, That surely is well and truly trashed and Yes, it is amazing that any vehicle that young could look so old. I guess the empty spray cans were Matt Black right?

I wonder why the perp's sprayed it like that even, it's like "Look at me, please pull me over Mr Policeman"

Good luck with the build and I'll be watching the thread with interest.

You have a lot of work cut out for you, but I'm sure when you finish it will be fresh. I know a guy who did the same thing to an Accura and when he finished everyone wanted to buy it. Hope you plan on keeping it.
