Default 2005 Mustang GT vs. 2002 Chevy Camaro

Anyone out there would like to tell us how the 2005 Ford GT Mustang holds up to the 2002 Camaro Z-28? This means a course stock.

If the Mustang was a snowball and the Camaro was hell, that's about the chance the Mustangs got. Of course, if the Camaro driver has a heart attack at the wheel or something, then it could happen.

ive never seen them race or anything but id bet my $$$ on the camaro jsut on the fact that it has a 5.7 liter v8 which means higher speed..more horsepower and torque etc as opposed to ford 4.6 liter...but cars arent all about racing....

I don't remember the specifications for the Camaro. But you could get a Camaro with around 300 hp...which is about what the Mustang has. Hp is Hp. Doesn't matter if it comes from a 5.7 or a 4.6. So, it would depend on a few factors...Power to weight ration of the cars. Don't know which one is heavier. Assuming they're probably close. And then of course the driver. Whether or not either driver has a heart attack as 98LS1 says could also play a role in it.

The new 05 Stang has dynoed around 250HP to the wheels.
The Z28's did around 285-295 so the HP edge goes to the Camaro.

I was just down at the speedway in Vegas,at a buddys speed shop and a guy with a 05/auto dynoed at 285,he claimed it was stock,I saw no underhood mods but you never know!
As for a camaro what does it run in the 1/4,I have seen plenty at the track(raced many) and they avarage 14.5's. I am new to this site, and have noticed many talk about the camaro like it was god and a mustang could never beat it.I have never been beaten by a camaro, even when I use to race slant sixes(225 C.I 3.7 L) in my Mopars! Whats up with that?

My LS1 TransAm dyno'd 325rwhp with just headers and a CAI. I have the slowest LS1 ever made...and it's an auto. Mostly all of them dyno 300+rwhp. For one to run 14.5 is a damn shame, unless you guys are 5000ft above sea level. Some have went 12.7's and 12.8's bone stock...as tested by MM&FF.

For you n00b's, they're grossly underrated. If you see the 305hp rating, that's nearly what it'll put to the wheels.

It's the greatest small block motor EVER!!!!10n3
