Well, today was one of those days where it was just lightly raining and the roads were perfect slick. So I came across an empty parking lot and was like what the hell, I'm going to do a donut (never done it in my stang) I was sure I could get it to do it but...... Yea, It jsut went in a big circle not a true donut. I could feel the tires spinnig but the ass end just wouldnt slide out and start doing one. I was really disapointed.
I think the basis for a donut to take effect is that the front wheels are locked (braked). Without stationary front wheels - they are sliding on the wet pavement, your donut never gets started.
what do I know. I have never actually done this. <geek>
Does your car break free when you nail it form a stand still on slick roads?
Floor it with your wheel straight and once you get going forward (within 5' of the stoped position) with your rear wheel/s spinning turn your steering wheel whatever direction you want to go (I normally go right). Going forward will give you a little forward momentum in your rear end and when you turn your wheel it will try to keep going in a straight little making your car fish tail and then donought if you keep your wheel turned.
You can also try this from a break stand instead of a dead start.
(Im guessing none of you have driven in snow/ ice/ sluch/ gravel and muddy roads before...)

You didn't spin out because your car may not have enough power to just naturally spin out, and also, you have to slide into a spin out, you just can't turn the wheel and think that's what it's going to do like in games, you have to atleast be moving a little to make your back in come out.

Oh yea, have fun.
Yea, sometimes I dont even press hard on the gas and it will. lol I'll try what ur saying, I've also heard that it helps if you put it in 1st gear. I just turned the wheel all the way to the left, rolled slow for a little in a circle, and punched it.
thats because the car in the video was a v6 and has a open rear end and doesnt have power going to both tires just the passanger
but in the rain it should be no problem to spin out for that matter you can do it on dry pavement
put car in drive drive go a normal parkinglot speed and then turn wheel all the way and mash on it the rear should start to come arrond on dry and you just got to work it but it should easily come arround when wet
On dry days I can kick my Stang sideways around normal street corners, but thats knowing my car, how it feels and knowing when and just before it down shifts so when I do it it drops a gear half way around, breaks free and once im at about 30 degrees past the half way point of the turn its off the gas and all in keeping the steering wheel straight with the road ahead.
Be carefull! I live in the country so if I **** up its a ditch or feild for me, not a sidewalk, another car or worse, a person.

I can get the car to fish tail easy, I've just never done a donut or even attempted it. And dont worry the place I'm doing it is an empty parking lot at our towns old middle school, that is being torn down. There is no people, cars, or anything for me to run into. All I have to worry about is a cop driving by and seein me do it. lol

If you notice in the video the guys doing the doughnuts are the ones with a LSD. It's a lot tougher to get the rear end to slide around with an open diff, you need momentum then.

It doesnt have the button to turn it off it that's what you mean. I think only the GTs have that.
That's not true, mine has a button to turn it on and off. It was an option the original owner had when purchasing the car. So if you don't have the button you don't have traction control.
A complete donut is gonna be hard as they've all said, it's easy to get it to spin around to about a 180, but to keep spinning in a circle is gonna be hard without a LSD. Doesn't seem like you've been asked but is this an auto or manual? With the manual just keep it in first and second and just keep the rpm's up to keep the tires spinning and use some momentum; get going a little and then turn a little (not so much that the front loses traction), punch it and then see how far the back end whips around, it'll usually just spin all the way to a 180 and then pretty much just sit and spin. I'm not big on doing showy stuff like donuts, when it rains here I use cones and practice drifting around them or the other fun one, go in reverse and try to do the spin around and go forward thing, haha.
