I've got a 2000 v6 completely stock engine.  But i have 17in cobra wheels, dual exhaust, and cobra smoked headlamps.  I'm definately just about the looks on this v6, until i get a gt or roush.  (but that wont be for some time) Would i be a poser if i get a gt hood scoop and fog lamps, or is it all good just for the look?

I'm looking into getting lowering springs for sure next, but any other advice on making the v6 look a little meaner would be great.

(unable to load pics can't figure out how to downsize my pictures and still be in jpeg format.)

It all depends.  You've got the 00 sixer, which is a hell of a lot faster than many cars out there.  You'll beat most other cars stock, but if your car looks too good, people with actually fast cars will want to race, and if you do, you'll lose, and if you turn down every challenge, they'll think your a pussy.

so,if you just want a good looking car and are okay admitting its not as fast as it looks, then go right ahead, but if you're trying to make your car look badass so people will think its fast, then thats poserish.

enthusiast.

posers take it to the next level with re-badging (if there is such a word)

(please God let this not start another horrible, angry poser flame war)

Thats not enough to be a poser at all. I think it will look good. Unless you get a Cobra bumper and the emblems go jump off a bridge.

I wouldn't call that posing, and I would not worry about other "faster cars wanting to run." There is nothing wrong with declining to race. Since you asked the question in the first place, you definitely do not have the poser attitude.

I don't condone street racing, one of friends was badly hurt in an accident, and when I did occasionally race I didn't see the person who wouldn't want to race me a pussy.
Maybe they just had some common sense (which I didn't at that time) and didn't feel like risking their life or jail time just to prove someone wrong racing.

And to the thread starter, it's not "posing" unless you tell everyone it's a cobra or put badges on it.

Well, a V6 isn't a "hell of a lot faster" than most other cars. It's pretty much right in there with newer (05+) family import sedans, and slower than most newer import coupes. But anyway...

It's not posing at all. You're not misbadging it or anything. It's just making it look good. And don't street race. It's stupid.

I'm not saying street racing is all that.  I don't street race really.  I mean, the most I ever do is see who can get off the line and hit 10 over first, and thats only on straight roads that are well lit.

I got revved at tonight by an eclipse, like an 05, and he and I both hauled ass of the line.  We could see far down the road, and there were tons of street lihts, and the limit was 50.  So we both gun it, and I got ahead of him, and by the time I hit 50 I shut it down because I continued to get farther ahead so I didn't even need to go any faster.  Thats really not racing IMO.

I know its not good practice, but I mean, hitting 50 on a street where the limit is 50 isn't dangerous.

You can say whatever, but I don't do the curvy road kind of street racing.  I was out with one of my friends the other afternoon and hes got a GMC sierra.  We were dicking around, seeing who had better acceleratoin from a roll, and then we came to a curve, and he keeps going like 55 around it, but i slowed down to 40 and I let him win.  I know not to push my luck.

OK, back on topic, putting a GT scoop on and fog lights is not a bad idea at all, I really love the look that simple little scoop provides, and the fog lights are always nice to have.

yeah... do subtle things if you wish (no ricer crap with neon lights, outlandish body kits, or stereos that need two alternators to run your stupid "system" that is good for nothing but making a god awful boom noise...  but yeah do what you feel is good.  obviously if you are concerned about being a poser, you won't do anything dumb.  save up some money for real mods that will make you actually fast - the 3.8 has plenty of potential to kick ass - a CAI or new muffler won't unleash all that "power" though.  trade it in for a gt if you're not young like me so you can actually pay the insurance, if not, have some fun and gain experience by working on it and moding you're car.  and if you race (which is perfectly fine), take it to a local track or strip - NOT THE ROAD.

Hey man I have the GT scoop, foglights, and black paint like the Mach1 has below my scoop, and love it, as well as the honeycomb insert around the tailights with the high Output V6 sticker on there, and true Bullitt wheels. Just be proud of your car, don't care so much about what others think. I tell ya, I may not have a GT, but I get comments left and right about my sixer, and I'm pretty proud of it.

OK i dont care what any one says to u about it being slow not saying you cant make it fast. But that cost money and your better off getting a Gt or a Cobra But the way I see it is,

I am gonna gett my looks down im thinking about 18x9 saleen wheels.
lowering it 1.5
possibly putting on the saleen bodykit and a Carbon fiber hood

i wanna have a nice looking show car but now ill say what i was gonna.

Make it look good you can always buy a gt or cobra or any of thos and put all thos parts you bought on them

It's being an enthusiast. There's no such thing as being a poser. If you want your stang to look good in YOUR mind, than go for it man! This is always a cliche but it's true, it's YOUR car, YOUR sweat...not the spectators. I think they look nice and the fogs will sexify it even more but still not overduing the "poser"-ness. It's like me wearing Nike Low Dunks or whatever they're called, but I'm no thug... am I a poser or do I just simply like the shoes?

I hate the word 'poser'.

Def thanks for the advice everyone.  I'm def just about the eye appeal on this v-6. So plain and simple, do what i do, just dont put different tags on it.

i say screw it instead of spending the money on a gt or roush do what im gonna do it'll cost you about $7100.00 to $9000.00 depending on the upgrades but supersixmotorsports.com has a badass 3.8L motor you can buy that would put out anyweres from 390hp to 550hp now tell me another v6 can beat that or even most GT's on the road i just like the idea of not having a new car payment or the down payment you would have to put down on a roush would pay for the motor   good luck

Uh... since when? Its not that fast.

But honestly, i dont think your a poser because youve got a V6 and your modding it without rebadging it, and your not goin around saying its faster than most other cars out there.
