hey ive been seeing a lot of posts on rear gears and a tlok. ive been trying to decide what mod to go with next and i wanted to ask what type of gains could i expect from gears, and can i just buy gears or do i have to buy them with the tlok?

Well Joe you won't see number gains....per say. The 3.73's are for me and I am very happy with them. My car is really fast out of the whole (I got a 2.04 60' time) and on the freeway it isn't bad either running around 2750 RPM's at 75 MPH. overall I'm happy I went with choice.

To tell ya the truth, I was a little disappointed with the 3:73's. I thought that it would make a bigger difference than it did. When I read the posts, I got the impression that the improvement would be huge and it wasn't. On the bright side, the car is still very streetable, even on the highway. There might be a little difference in gas mileage, but it's small. One thing to think about, our Mustangs were never offered with 3.73 gears from the factory, so the guys at Ford are telling me that they can't re calibrate the speedometer to work with the new gear ratio. This is no big deal if you have a custom tune because you can just put it in yourself.
It is going to cost you about $500 in labor to have your gears put in. In my opinion, you might as well spring the extra $175 or so for the T-lock, because later, when you find that your one wheel wonder rear end doesn't allow the tires to hook up, you will have to spend another $500 to have one installed.

You will love the 3.73's of course you'll see the most preformance from dead start if you get on it it can spin tires in 1st and 2nd. The t-locs are a no brainer since the most of the cost is in the labor and you will get better traction. The gains are in the delivery of your power to the wheels not in HP gain like a 10 speed bike. You will also see some performance in gaining speed on accelaration.
The performance gains are very noticable if you know how to apply them. Of course if you drive like a grandma you'll never know it's there.
It is many guys opinon that this is by far the best mod we have done. Good luck and make sure you get a good gear guy to do it if you decide to.
Thanks,i thought i read somewhere they were going to make one for the 7.5 awhile back.If anyone finds one for purchase,i would love that.I have motive gears now,and they are just fine..
i'm thinking about going with a vortech next year. what gears would be best? i'm only looking at the 8psi model. no desire for maximum power, just reliability and solid performance.
