Good new for me. I just got hired at the Dodge dealership for sure, I start Monday at 1. $8 an hour for the first month, then $9 after that. Oh and time and a half for every hour over 40hrs/week. When I got my schedule for my old job I was scheduled for THREE days all month. So I'm just gonna quit there and go to Dodge.

What are you doing there? I'm assuming lot boy or something, if you're getting paid so little.

Yup, all I gotta do is wash cars. I'll get to drive a lot of cars too, except not off the lot until I'm 18.

Damn, i wish i was getting paid that at a theater! i work at a Regal and get $6.25 and ive been there for almost 2yrs.which explains why ive only flowmasters for my car. kinda sucks, but its the easiest job ever.

Ha, I work at regal too. Minimum wage in washington is 7.93 which is pretty high compared to some other states... only con is i dont have to look at the combos to know whats in each and how much they cost anymore... my friends make fun of me.. lol and i eat too much popcorn..

damn, i live in texas and the minimum wage just went up to 5.85 like a few days ago.

pfft.  I live in tx, and I make $14.50  an hour.  I'm a baseball umpire, so i stand there and put a ball in a machine and call kids out or safe, and I make 15 bucks a game.  They're like 8 year olds, so its super easy.  My paycheck at the end of the season was 1400 bucks, and thats for 3 months of working, for like 3 days a week.  I would have made more, but it freaking rained every day for a month just about, so that screwed me over.

I'm starting a 2nd job on tuesday.  My friensd dad owns a restaurant here, and hes gonna let me wait tables and set my own schedule.  We make like 2.30/hr, but usually you make about 7 bucks a table at 15% tips.  You keep your own tips as well, no pooling BS.  He said they do like 4 hour shifts, and that if you work you can easily make 40 bucks a night in tips.  I plan to work practically every day until school startsin a month so I can earn some damn money.

I don't go for minimum wage jobs.  I find jobs that pay well.  I don't pay taxes either.  I don't think I earn enough, and my employers dont give the w2 or whatever it is, so i just assume I dont have to pay taxes.  I don't think the IRS is gonna come after a kid who makes like 2 grand a year.  THat would be my taxable pay.  Tips are non taxable I'm pretty sure.

I don't really mod my car though.  I pay for gas and insurance, and I"ve got 3 grand in my bank account.

You know how I keep my money?  No girlfriend.  I hang out with girls, but theres no reason to get serious, we're not gonna get married, and I'm not gonna risk gettin' some while I'm still under my parents control until I turn 18 in a year and a half.  I'll wait till college when I can do whatever the **** I want.

I waited tables at Friendly's for about two weeks. Then one day the regional manager came in and told me I can't do it anymore cause waiters can't have tattoos. I usually worked a 4 hour shift at $5.65/hour, and brought home between $50 and $65 a night in tips. It's a really good way to make money if you're good with people. Oh, and when you do wait tables, and parents have little kids or something, talk to the kids. Parents eat that **** up.

haha.  My parents always tip the guys better who talked to me and my brother when we were little.  Where I'm going to be working at, they do a sunday brunch buffet, and last time I was there, I was waiting in line for my fresh waffles, and our waiter came by and said "you can go sit down, I"ll get your waffle for you when its done.  Do you want anything on it?  Syrup, whip cream?"  And then he brought it to me with syrup and strawberries and whipped cream, and my parents were like "dude, hes getting extra tips for that.

you just gotta know how to work it.

When I turn 18 (August 16th) Im gonna quit the theatre and pick up a job as a Lot Lizard at the Ford dealership. Wash cars etc. Once I turn like 19 or 20 cant remember, they could possibly hire me as a dealer. Last years football captain and quarterbacks dad is the Manager of the dealership and he knows me, he let me test drive the S197 Gt last time i was there. Said that if no one bought it and it was finished i could possibly drive the 2006 Roush GT theyve got in detailing.

I'm more of a PowerBall fan, myself. I'm gonna wait till it gets up around $250, maybe $300 million, then I'll win it. No sense in being a pussy and only winning the $100 million one, you know?

I'd rather save the money I'd spend on lottery throughout my lifetime, put a few bucks in a savings account every week or a mutual fund, and have a good chunk of money.  By the time all the interest compounds after 40 years, you'd have like 150k.  Don't remeber the exact numbers, but a financial guy on the radio took the average a person spends on lottery and figured how much youd make if you put it into a mutual fund for 40 years and you'd have like 150k.  hmm, a guaranteed 150 grand, or a 1 in 58 million shot at 100mil.

how can you figure out the "average" a person spends on lottery?  some people spend like $5/month on just a single ticket, others spend $40/week.  that's a huge gap to find an average at.

ok, so pick a number in the middle.  say 20 bucks a week.  there you go, now you've got a number to go off of.  Its an approximate average.  It wasn't so much to show how much you could earn, just the fact that you can put your money into an account, and get a guaranteed return instead of just tossing it away (I hate to break it to you, but 1:58,000,000 is pretty much tossing your money away).

I used to work at a convience store, and we sold scratch cards, CT lotto tickets, daily numbers, and powerball. There was such of variety of people who played the lotto. Some people would occasionally buy a powerball ticket or two if it was a good amount of prize money. What's one or two bucks for a shot at $200 million, ya know? Then there were the older guys who came in ever morning and played the mid day and nightly numbers. They usually played the same numbers everyday. They spent about $5 a day, which is really what the average smoker spends on ciggarettes, so that isn't too bad. Then there were people who would spend upwards of $20 on scratch tickets a day. There was one lady who came in every morning and chose one game (usually a $10 ticket) and played it until she won. Sometimes she came out ahead, but usually not. But the best was this old guy (he had to be like 120 years old, lol) who came in everyday without fail and consistently bought entire packs of $20 and $30 tickets. Now a pack of tickets of that price has 25 tickets in there. And there's always a winner in a pack. But he would lose so much money getting to the winner. The lottery is really a nasty thing to get addicted to.

Yeah but how long have u been working there compared to them?

I worked at a grocery store bagging once.. hurt my knees.. going from football practice to work during the summer.. its hard enough on my knees being a 5'8" 190lb defensive end, but standing around for 4-5 hour shifts and 2 15 min breaks... thats why i left for target where i got 8 dollars and earned myself a 230 BBK intake for my mustang... AND 1000+ dollars in repairs after my radiator cracked.. my thermostat and blinker switch went to crap and i needed new brake pads kuz they hadnt been changed since god knew when... Now i work at the theatre, i make 7.93 like i said, get free movies which is a plus for dates, working at the theatre we get 10% off our meals at red robins next door to the theatre which is another deal for dates... and im saving up for my very own 4th generation Z28 (got tired of the old beater 2nd gens...)

Problem is you're a teenager working an entry level position in a grocery store. You're completely replacable. Why pay you $8/hour when he can just find someone else to do the same job for $6.50? The job's probably not worth advancing in, anyway. Just be happy you're making money and then get a real job when you're done with school.
