Default Does clicking the lock button once activate the alarm?

I'm wondering whether or not you have to click LOCK twice on the remote and hear it honkin orderto set the car's alarm. My father told me that you only had to do it once, so I've been living by that assumption as long as I've had the car. The little red alarm light blinks inside my car when I click it either once or twice, so I never really thought twice about what he told me. But after the break-in the other night and the alarm not going off (I clicked it once) I'm not so sure about this...

Go out and get yourself a real alarm. One with a paging system would be a great choice.

Yeah I'm also curious about these factory alarms. How could it not have even gone off if someone broke into the car??

Test it...leave one window rolled down some and click the remote once and stick your arm inside the window. If the alarm goes off, then one click is all you need.
I'm curious too because one poster a while back said you had to click it twice to fully alarm the system.

+1 ya I think I double click it, and the car honks.

1 click locks the doors, 2 clicks activates the alarm.

That only works if you have the motions sensors.

I am not sure if it is one or two clicks to fully activate the alarm but I do know that the second click will not honk the alarm if the doors/trunk/hood are not closed correctly.

I have had mine activated by the interior power door lock switch. My son clicked lock then opened the door to get out(which unlocked the door). later I went to the car to get something out and the alarm went off. (my car is usually left unlocked in my garage, the garage is locked)

One click is all you need, if you have motion sensors.

Found it on page 71
http://www.mustangblog.com/info/2006.ownersmanual.pdf

There are two alarm systems for the car, active and passive. The passive only disables the starter, but the active actually sounds an alarm and has motion/door/trunk/hood/incline sensors. All cars have the passive and the dash indicator is for this one.You can notice it blinking before you even get out of your vehicle.
