You're gonna have to forgive me...it's been a while since I've been around mustang. The sn95 is the [94-98] body right? The s197 would be the [05-07]? I'm not sure...obviously, I can't remember.

I see a LOT of new edge mustangs...but am starting to see more of the 05-07 body styles around; of course they're usually driven by women in their 30's. I don't see that many older ones..and I hardly ever see camaros; mustang country I guess. And I hardly ever see any srt's.

Technicly the sn95's are between 1994-2004.........Since the 1999-2004 has a more edge look (less rounded than the 94-98) they received the slogan "new edge"...........S197's are 2005-?.......

Thats a close race......I would'nt feel confident placing a bet on either one...

I daily drive an hour back and forth to work...  I've seen 2 V6 Camaros, 1 V6 Firebird, 2 LS1 T/As and 2 LS1 Camaros (SS and a Z28).. in the same time frame I can think of over a dozen S197s and about 5 or 6 Edge style....  any older than that and its hard to keep count.

Anybody going to venture a guess what the Next Viper and Bluedevil will do in the quarter? I'd think low 11's in the 125 to 130 range.

I love corvettes. I rode in a 550 whp C5 this weekend at autocross and it was insane.

That blue devil has at least 100bhp over the current Z06....not to mention close to 100lbs lighter...I'd have to say a solid high 10 second car...The Viper I' guess would be bottom 11's since it's about 200-300lbs heavier..

It would be cool if it could pull of a 10 second run but there just aren't many cars right of the show room floor that pull it off. I root for it though.

Since the current Z06 already does low 11s in the mid to high 120s...  I would say a bit faster. ;)

Did anyone read the article in C&D about the road rally where they stopped at tracks around the country. They had a couple of beast Vipers.... one had twin turbo 700+ ponies that was leading the pack until he threw a clutch. The Hertz GT500 was doing well until Hertz came and got it. The most disappointing was the blown Cervini Stang GT....only ran the mid 13s. I didn't see any numbers on the top car 1/4 miles. Did anyone?

Not really argueing with anyone but just for comparsion purposes. A Saleen S7 does the quarter in factory stock trim at 11.8. It has 750HP and weighs 2750.

Yeah I coulda sworn I saw a high 10 second time in factory stock trim for the turbo Saleen S7, Motor Trend IIRC.

Informative link...

IMO...when you start getting into 600bhp cars it does'nt mean that 100 more hp is going to add a full second like it does when comparing 300/400hp cars.......
Since it's safe to say that a Z06 is a mid 11 second car...I still hold true to my statement that the new Corvette SS will be a high 10 second car

I need to get the specifics, but my old man bought a TT Porsche.  It won't be ready until December.  He's 0ver 70 and overweight.  I can't imagine how he is going to get in and out of it.  On paper, it should give my Z06 a good run, except my dad will drive it like an old lady.  I told him I need to drive it so that the car gets driven like it was meant to be driven.

I'll post more specifics when I talk to him.

Well looks like we can keep this thread going for ever. So which automotive magazine do you find the most informative and unbiased?

I like Motor Trend better then Car and driver. or Road and track.
I Prefer sport compact car(Great magazine) over Super Street.
I like MMFF for my mustang info above other mustang rags.
I like popular hotrodding over hot rod just for the fact that hot rod caters to big buck builds.

I think Car and driver is the silliest magazine of all. It seams to pain them to give an american make a win over a German or japanize motel. And when they do a performance shootout. the slower less performing car always seams to win based on crap like fit and finish or interior! Why bother comparing performance at all???
