You are going to swap out the convertible top? Personally I wouldn't waste the money for that. IMO the only car that looks good with the tan top is the redfire, I nearly bought that exact same combo. I am not sure about your pops but I'd guess he'd be a lot cooler about the mods if you sprinkled in some ones that make sense in terms of safety and reliability. Changing the top might make him think twice about giving you a blank check to mod the car. Take that money a get yourself a Billetflow IRS Brace, BF Idlers and Maximum Motorsport Full length subframe connectors.
Those wont' give you anymore "go" but will reduce the wheel hop a bit ,stiffen the chassis on the convertible, and prevent one of the cheap Ford idlers from shredding your belt.
Black bumper inserts might look nice if you do swap out the top but otherwise I recommend stainless steel. They came on my MG vert and love them. On my GT I had Flowmasters (dronemasters) and loved it at WOT, but I couldn't have hated it more just crusing. I now have a magnaflow and the sound is nice a strong inside the car but with no drone, and outside the car it sounds sweet.
