Before anyone flames, i read the stickies and searched for a while. i have an 02 gt with the mach 460 and i want to install an eclipse head unit in it. i picked it up at crutchfield today with wiring harness and mounting tray. i haven't really messed with car audio in about 5 years but i do have some experience.
the wiring harness i got from crutchfield is the standard type with all the power, remote, dimmer, speaker hookups, etc. problem is with the mach system i have 3 harnesses to hook up to. i looked at the sticky and saw both the adapters pictured. i thought i could try something like the one with rca's. i have 3 5v preouts 2 (front/back) and one sub. if i did that would i just hook up the power wires to the standard harness (acc., constant, ground, etc), and then the rca's just take care of the signal? i know the tweeters run straight off the factory deck but everything else is amped. and if i do that what are the other 2 harnesses for? i know that the large factory harness looks like it is wired to all 4 speakers. here are the pics of what im looking at....
does anyone have a part # for a harness that works in an 02 gt? because ive looked around online and found about 10 different ones and none of them look like they would fit.
thanks for any help.
peace

Yes that harness that runs to your Mach amps, then you still need that harness they sent you and you will only connect your remote wire, power, ground, ignition etc. You dont need to connect any speaker wires at all.
And your tweeters are not powered by the headunit. The amp that is under the dash powers those and then the two amps in your trunk's amp rack powers the fronts and rears.
You basically only need the main harness that gives your headunit power, ground etc. and then the one that runs to the Mach amps.
What Eclipse did you pick up out of curisoity? Must be a... 3100 maybe? 5V and F/R/Non-Fader outputs. Im just guessing here.
check out page 2 of my sig and see if there is a bypass hrns in the dash similar to mine.
My tweets are powered from the deck, I am fairly sure yours are too.......
Then im not too sure why when I have never connected my deck speaker wires, but I have ran my harness plugs to just the Mach front amp when I was taking my rear deck enclosure out that just my tweeters were playing...
Maybe I am wrong but, they played when I just had the front connected and not the decks amped speaker output connected.

thanks for the help. yeah i got the 3100 seemed like a pretty good deal, kind of ugly but i like the 5v preouts and that it is an eclipse. i plan on completely gutting the mach system in the future for some nice comps up front and my idmax 12 in the back. just want to get the mach system running for now.
i'll try to find the rca harness tonight that looks like the one in the sticky. you wouldn't happen to know a part # would you?

That part did not work for me whatsoever. It does not fit mine. I went to a local shop today and had them look at it and supposedly one of the guys knew what I needed and is ordering it for me. It cost around 25 bucks.

I sure will. I will post the part number for you if it actually works so you can check and make sure you get the right one the first time. Right now I am just using the tweeters because evidently they are powered from the head unit. (the sound sucks so bad right now :) )
