Default Woodview Dash Kit

I thought I'd write a review of the Woodview Dash Kit (2-D Molded Flat Dash Kit, 05XB-MUSTG-DD) I just installed. My kit is double brushed aluminum and was purchased at AtlantaMustang . com.

Impressions: The material is not a sheet of aluminum, instead it's a somewhat flexible material. Whatever laminate they used on top (w/aluminum underneath, it appears) looks as though it will hold up under abuse. I was very concerned about interior scracthes, but from what I can tell, it will probably scratch less than the factory plastic.

Each piece was cut cleanly with no need to clean up the sides. However, it did not fit as exactly as I wanted! Two of the parts were two different sizes! (see photo) They looked like complete garbage when I put them on. Luckily, I did not press them down all the way, otherwise, I would have been in trouble. All other parts were fine.

Color match: It's very close with my interior upgrade package. In fact, I think the aftermarket matches the inserts on the steering wheel very well. In any case, it's probably a 95% match.

Installation: You're supposed to use adhesive promoter to install this stuff. I understand that adhesive promoter will ruin just about anything it comes in contact with. I know myself, and if I had used it, I would have spilled it on the leather or on some plastic piece I didn't intend to treat. No thanks.

In any case, I had some interior aluminum pieces that attached with automotive tape. I didn't like them, so I removed them. I didn't use any adhesive promoter and they stayed on fine for almost a year. It took quite a bit of pulling and prying to get them off, too.

If the material does start coming up, then I can always glue it down. I picked up some LOCTITE multipurpose glue at the hardware store that I've used to glue parts on the Mustang interior before. I'll just use that if it's a problem.

Clean everything with alcohol very, very well! I went over each part twice. Try not to get it on any trim you won't be covering. I got quite a bit of balck on my rag and I don't think it was all dirt.

Next step is just to peel and stick. Dry fit everything first. Work slowly. This is a very easy installation, but remember, you only have one shot at it.

If you aren't going to use to the parts that I showed above, then I wouldn't hesitate to get the kit. Otherwise, you may want to avoid this kit or check your individual kit first and make sure you're panels are cut precisely before you put them on.

Now for the fun...before and after photos!

Just in case you're interested, here's what it would have looked like had I covered up the head unit. I prefer to keep it black.
