I tried! Was hoping to excavate the prom photo. complete with very short date in baby blue tux with fluffy ruffled shirt and me sporting a wrist corsage.... Then there would be the first ride, a 1966 Mustang vert.... But alas, my pay-rents have the archive
Prom date's ride was a blue Vega, BTW . Always been a softie for a guy in a hot sled...
Amy's dad car was the 66 or 67 Mustang, if I remember correctly it was a convertible that she sold so she could obtain Georgia.
I’m with Jazzer, bring on the leggings and Danskin……..
Close Tim!! Here are pix of my dad's dream car, purchased when I was 8 (and it was old then!) frame-off restored and sold to buy Georgia:
...just post something with you standing next to your current car, but wear dated clothing like a hypercolor shirt or fold your pants at the bottom to make pleats.
My first ride was a green machine. I'd launch that thing down my parent's driveway and do spinouts at the bottom.
My second ride is this car right here:
I bought this beauty in 1988 and sold it a few years back. I never had the money or time to restore it and the wife wanted me to have a safer car. That's how I ended up with my Saleen.
These pics above are from the current owner. I still email him from time to time.
edit: I should add that I had the coolest sticker in the back window. It was a side view of a cartoon head with this guy's finger jammed way up his nose digging for mineral resources and it had a big circle and cross through it. It was my no nose picker sticker... and it is no more *sob*

06 - sorry if we made you feel unwelcomed. But look at it this way - we are all remenising about the era you are living right now. Heck - I bet most of wish we were in your shoes so we could do it all over again We drove Vegas, Pintos, Chevettes, and other $2000 wannabe hot-rods. You got the real deal man

+1. Heck, I didn't even have a "cool" beater car (like my buddy's AMC Pacer) in high school. I had a hand-me-down Le Baron. At least it had the TURBO 2.2 liter engine (on which I literally melted the Turbo). Gotta find some old pix with me rockin' the mullet and a 3/4 length concert t-shirt back in Burtonsville, Maryland...

No no haha, I was just messing around. I do realize how lucky I am to own a vehicle sooooooooooo beautiful at such a young age. I will always take care of her day in and day out. I plan on keeping her until she gives out, hopefully at least 20 years down the road. Im hesitant to post a pic of me with my car due to the fact that I will never hear the end of it, how young I look etc. Haha...maybe soon though
I have one of me and my dad standing next to my 78 Pontiac Trans AM - Silver with Hurst T tops and the big ole Pontiac 6.6 litre. I had the car from 84 to 88. 2 years of HS then 2 years of college then I bought a new 88 Mustang GT. I need to find that picture and see if I can scan it into my new laptop to load up, Ah the 80s were a great decade. pretty cool cars with the rebirth of the Mustang as a good car to own and some god music.. Yes I too was a Metal head fan...

Hey Jazz, what does the license plate say Louie L?Lowie L
Yes. It says "LOWIE L". This was my late brother Michaels plate. He was a fan of Lowenbrau beer and was long before they had a "light", but they had a "dark", so it refers to the "regular". Had a difficult time getting it legal from DMV as he was unable to sign it over. I was not about to allow them to destroy the plates (as was usual treatment for owners who died) so I found a cool DMV counter-person and we worked it out together. I had this plate on that Vega for 5 years and on my '85 GT for over 20 years. It was badly beat-up and color did not go with the VIXN, so I came up with a new one for that. I still have the two plates and are very special to me.

Jazzer, thumbs up on your old ride!! Very cool, clean look and to me the O.Z. wheels add a crsip, slightly upscale feel that matches perfectly with the car. Very nice and thanks for posting--between this car and your current ride, you have come quite a long way from the Vega!
