Default STS turbo

i just got an e-mail from joe at squires turbo systems (sts, they make the remote mounts). He was letting me know that until the 27th they are having a deal on all their mustang kits. $500 bucks off msrp on the single kits, and $1k off msrp on the twin kits. The single kit starts a 4k, so some of you may want to jump on this. this means you could get an intercooled kit for about 4k, or a non-intercooled kit for under 3500 bucks. i just thought some of you would probably be interested.

I thought that the sts gt turbo kit wouldn't fit the 4.0. Is that correct?

most of it will. There are a few minor changes that would need to be made including the TB pipe and a few things on the hot side.

These good deals always come when I've either JUST bought parts, or when I have no money.

Does anyone have any idea how much hp this kit will make on the 4.0? I suppose custom dyno tuning is also necesary though too....

Yea a dyno tune would be 100% necessary as their tunes are for the gt. I have talked extensively with joe before about the kit and for a while i planned on getting the kit and making it work on the 4.0. Also keep in mind, you are gonna want a smaller turbo than the gt kit uses which will almost 100% of the time be less expensive at the same quality level, so subtract another 200 bucks or so from the price (they have told me it would be no problem to replace it with another turbo, and they will look at all the flowcharts and everything and pick one suitable for your needs, so you wouldn't need to worry about it). The kit is easily capable of over 300rwhp. The thing is, with having to fab and everything, you will probably only save a few hundred bucks compared to the torque twister kit from forced4, and this setup wont likely perform as well, so i would truthfully only do this kit if you want the unique sound of the remote mounts, along with a real simple install and probably around the same performance as the centri's. I personally would rather get the twister kit for the money, but if this is what you want, this is the time to buy and i know alot of people have showed interest.

it can sound pretty cool

for unique style and cool factor with performance too, it's a great buy, but if you are just looking for the performance the twister is more for your money.

100% go with forced4's kit over this kit. it will end up costing you more, unless you can do all the fab work yourself.

exactly, the only reason i would see anyone doing this would be for like a show car or something with the unique factor of a remote mount. like i said, if it is just the performance, go with forced 4.

the only problem i saw with the sts turbo is, what if your car is a daily driver and you live someplace where it rains a lot.
