Those 1/4 times are about right. With two equal drivers, you'll lose, even with your mods. But if you're a little better than average and the other guy is a bit worse then you'll have yourself a race.
I think it also depends on what kind of race your planning on running. If you're racing from a roll on the highway, you're gonna be a lot worse off than if you're racing from a dig.
