Brad Pitt is said to star in the remake of the 1960’s classic, ‘Bullitt.’ Pitt will take the role of Lt. Frank Bullitt, originally played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 version. According to sources “Brad shares a lot of the same passions as Steve McQueen - including a love of motorbikes and fast cars - so it was a dream role for him.”
The 1968 movie is based around a detective hunting a hitman who killed his fellow officers. The movie was best known for featuring one of the best car chases in theater history as McQueen’s Mustang car speeds through San Francisco.
Pitt was originally sought out for the role since 2003 but the project has now been given the green light.
How much you want to bet the new 2008 Bullitt Mustang will be the star?
found this on the movie....new Dodge Charger R/T vs ’08 Mustang Bullitt???
That’s right, soon we can relive the classic Mcqueen thriller Bullitt with Pitt starring as Lt. Frank Bullitt. According to sources, “Brad shares a lot of the same passions as Steve McQueen - including a love of motorbikes and fast cars - so it was a dream role for him.”
Pitt's current car curiosity does not at all come close to Mcqueen's fascination of racing. The man performed most of his own stunts and insisted on chasing and racing where it probably wasn't all that necessary. He once came 23 seconds from beating the great Mario Andretti in a Porche! He had his own damn patent for a bucket seat!!
Pitt's girlfriend was Laura Croft in Tomb Raider...and is kind of hot...
With the new Dodge Charger R/T and alleged ’08 Mustang Bullitt as co-stars by default, Bullitt will easily satisfy middle-age fans of gimmicky remakes oversaturated with product placement and lackluster writing.
Gearheads looking for more bang for their buck can relax—Transformers should be in the dollar theaters if not on DVD by then...
I agree that looks wise, Daniel Craig would be a better choice... too bad he's a wuss. For a Bond pre-release Media event, he was to arrive by speedboat. He refused to let the boat go above 20 mph, he wore 2 life preservers for the ride and when he got off said something to the effect of 'Wow, that was scary.'
I say, screw the talent. The largest demographic that this movie appeals to is NOT going to see this movie for the acting or story lines. I bet the parking lots are going to look like a Mustang/Charger convention. Stick a real racer in the seat (Nascar, Formula 1, Rally....ANYONE with driving talent) and let him at it. Heck, Nick Cage did most of the driving on "Gone in 60 seconds", put him in the seat. Anyone but the ridiculously overly metro-sexual Brad Pitt. He's just there to get the non-car-chicks to show...

That's an overblown, internet rumour version of the event. Much was made of it at the time, but the studio insisted that all restrictions on the boat and his wearing a life vest were insurance company imposed. Craig-bashers have since embellished the story to make him look bad.

I think he's perfectly capable of doing a good, understated performance. But we won't be doing his own driving! And worse, it will probably be all special effects anyway, making cars do things that defy the laws of gravity and physics. I guess movie goers don't care if cars are driven by computers and robots! Like the VW in Fast and Furious 15, 24..whatever
Brad Pitt a homo?? WTF, hes beddin down Angelina Jolie, AND was married to Jennifer Anniston. Not to shabby in my book! If thats the case, i'd be proud to be called a homo*.
*not that there is anything wrong with that.
Not to mention, I guess you didnt see The Fight Club? yeah, wouldnt call that character a homo.
sounds like you have inside knowledge on the matter. Can you disclose where you get this info from, or is it pure speculation on your part?
Im sure i am in the minority here, but I think Pitt is a great actor. Played in many great movies, IMHO. Legends of the Fall, The Fight Club, Troy... Not so much girly man roles.

Though it is widely believed that Steve McQueen—an accomplished driver—did the bulk of the driving stunt work, the stunt coordinator, Carey Loftin, had famed stuntman and motorcycle racer Bud Ekins do most of the risky stunts in the Mustang (Ekins also doubled for McQueen in one sequence of The Great Escape, in which McQueen's character jumps over a barbed wire fence on a motorcycle). The Mustang’s interior rear view mirror goes up and down depending on who is driving. When the mirror is up (visible) McQueen is behind the wheel, and when it is down (not visible) Ekin is in the car.
Bullitt is not being remade. Not on IMDB= Not happening.

Oh hell no, Daniel Craig didn't even know how to drive a stick shift during the filming of the ne Bond, and he is anti-gun, look it up; the new bond is a femi panzi.

I don't think it should be brad pitt, it should be Daniel Craig (new James Bond)
Brad Pitt Steve McQueen Daniel Craig
Now if Craig wore his hair the right way and did an American accent, He would be perfect as Frank Bullitt

That "not being able to drive manual" thing is another lie, also caused by the insurance people and exaggeration

I think the word they are looking for is "metrosexual".
