Default Saturday night kill - C5 and read about the GT500

I was on my way home after beating my friends '69 again driving South on Randal Rd. I ended up next to a C5 Convertable automaticwith exhaust and a guy who looked to be in his 50's and what might have been his mother, about 80 something, I think. The light turned green and he took off like he was on fire and I was left sitting there thinking WTF?? He did that with that old lady in the passenger seat? Damn dude, ok!

Next light is red and we're next to each other andGranny is looking over at me with a sh*t eating smile, again, WTF?? I mean really, WTF?? If I did that my Grandmother would have fed me the steering wheel!Ok Grandma game on, hang onto something! The light turns green I launch at about 4,000 rpm and rape that C5 good but I'll be damned if he didn't keep his foot into it for a LONG time! We get to the next light about 30 seconds later and there are cars in front of us, he swings into the left lane and turns, I looked at Granny and shot her my own sh*t eating grin, I half expected her to toss me the finger.

Next up going West on North Ave after passing Strats (there are Cops EVERYWHERE!!!) so I'm ignoring the revs from various Civic's and 1 SS Cobalt, which I saw pulled over a few miles ahead, I guess he didn't see the cop cars every few blocks or the people pulled over on 64. I'm almost up to County Farm Rd and a Tungsten Gray with silver stripes new GT500 comes flying up my rear. EXCELLENT!! Except, there are cops everywhere!!!! [&o]He pulls up to my right and takes off in 3rd but there are cars ahead and there is no way I'm racing up to their bumpers so I continue at the speed limit, he slows down and speeds up again, I have no clue what he expected me to do, I know he sees the cops so I just hope he is going to Rt. 59 because if he is as stock as it sounded it should be a very good race. I expected to lose because even Motor Trend got a 12.3 out of one of these so a dimwit should go 12.2 or better, this guy should show me tail lights or maybe I beat him and leave him wondering what happened, I'll NEVER KNOW!!

Next stop light, he turns right, I was pissed, robbed of my chance to go up against a GT500, CRAP!

I get to 59, where I wanted to race him and there is a cop sitting in the dark Citgo lot, tucked in so you couldn't see him until you were right up on him, had I been racing, I'd be waiting for my wife to bail me out right now. Funny thing is, I actually thought it would have been worth it for all of 2 or 3 seconds.

Tungsten GT500 guy, if you're on this board and you live near Route 64 (North Ave) respond PLEASE I want to see how well a supercharged GT stacks up against a stock (or not, whatever) GT500!!!!!

I would'nt go out on a limb and say a 12.2 is associated with stock times for a GT500. Yes, a 12.2 has been done by Evan Smith....need I say more...lol
They are neck and neck with a C6,and if you can beat a stock C6,then you should beat a GT500. Allthough judging by your trap speed...All three would be a drivers race in it's purest form...

Nice kill on the C5!!

I haven't had any runs against a C6 yet, I'm sure it will happen sometime this summer, plenty of C5's though. Last night there were Vettes everywhere including a ZR1 but he was driving 45 in a 55 probably taking the garage queen for a stroll.

I had an older guy (55+) race me in his CTS-V with what had to be his 55+ wife and a white haired old lady in the back seat.

Worst part was, he raced me after being a total dick and passing in a no passing zone on a 2 lane road with WAY to much traffic. , road went to 4 lanes and I pulled next to him just to screw around with him and he went for it lol. Buh bye CTS-V.

Even though i have run better 1/4 times, I think our cars a pretty close other than TQ. But I think you could take a stock C6. I respectively handed one his ass to about 140 last week.---This would be my **** eaten grin when they pulled and gave me thumbs up.
Sorry to hijack

Good run, way to give it to Granny!+1 My grandma would of back handed me if I would of pulled that stunt.

Yeah, not sure what was going on but seeing a Grandmother like that is something you just can't believe. I picture my Grandmother when she was alive riding in my first LX 5.0 back in 1985, I was going 5 over and I thought she was going give me a back hand instead she told me to slow down in that stern voice Mothers and Grandmothers develop. When they use your first andmiddle name, watch out!

Whos going to argue with their Grandmother? I slowed down, had a race presented itself I wouldn't have even given it another thought!

As for a C6, I hopefully have the after-cooler installed soon so my chances are better. That's one car I have a huge respect for, Chevy did it right with that one and also with the Z06.
