What is better for handling the low profile or the latter i like your idea  but is it practical on a fast car? And if you hit A curb on a low profile I have popped it on the higher ones will they not pop hmmm good question ...roger

Thats the O.E size of the GT's with the 18" wheel option.  Your 1st choice is better 255/45/18

235/50R18, 255/45R18, 285/40R18 are all very near the same height.

235/50R18 (27.2") OEM on 18 x 8.5 with +50 mm Offset.

255/45R18 (27.1") fit on factory 18 x 8.5 +50mm with no rubbing.

275/40R18 (26.6) factory tire 18 x 9.5 (Offset?) on Steeda Q335.

285/40R18 (26.9) MAY fit if offset is absolutely perfect on a 18 x 9.
Factory Saleen PJ Fronts are 285/35R19 (26.9) on 19 x 9.
