Soooooo.... I picked Georgia up at the dealer this afternoon. It's a 50 mile trip, much of it on a toll road. Now, I know that high-speed roads such as this are prime hunting ground for "The Man", so I behaved myself and kept to the speed limit (or a mile or two within, anyway). I actually LIKE toll roads because the $0.75 price of admission gives one the ability to stop completely to toss the quarters into the basket, but then you get the thrill of gunning it to get back to 60. (Even had my traction control turned off for this.)

Well.... unbeknownst to me, there is a "grace area" fora short distance after the toll booth when the limit is 45 (even though folks with tolltags are speeding by at 60). So I got clocked for going 61 in a 45!!! Waaaah!!! When he pulled me over, the "Speed Limit 60 MPH" sign was literally 10 feet in front of my bumper.
And of course the officer also smacked me for no front plate...[:@]
That's it -- from here on out, I'm walking on Friday the 13th! [&o]

I am sorry to hear about that... dont these guys have anything better todo like catching drug sellers!
I almost got a ticket myself too. I was driving behind a truck in the left lane at ~80 mph. The truck pulled to the center lane and as I was about to gun the gas pedal, I happened to look in the rear view mirror. Guess what, there was cop right on my tail. His front bumper must have been against my rear bumper. I almost could read his name tag. I didnt even hit the brakes as he would have rammed right into my car. So I just gently removed my foot off the pedal until the car slowed down. Thank god he didnt pull me over for 80.

Well did you at least put up a little argument with the cop? Did you explain you were unaware of this "safetyÂ*zone" or whateverÂ*
Honey, I tried every trick in the book (except crying -- I won't stoop that low). He wasn't buying.
At the end of the day, as a driver I'm responsible for knowing this stuff so the blame's all mine. The guy was just doing his job. But I wish he would have done it on someone else! Also, I suspect that the police pay special attention to cars like ours because they provide a much greater opporunity for on-road knuckleheadedness. It's all good -- just not the way anyone wants to end their day.
