I test drove a 99 GT Anniversary Edition today. It had CAI and i think an exhuast. It actually surprised me, and was a pretty decent ride. I'm considering it, but its a 99 with 117k and the dealership wants 9901 out the door. Too expensive, right?

Way to expensive man. You can find a 97-98 Cobra with under 100,000 miles for 7-8k. Or if you want newer, you can find 02-03 GT's with under 50k miles for under $15,000. Just look around man.

Oh yea man.. lol.. run away, and never look back....

I can't believe that a dealership *be it large or small* can even BEGIN TO THINK they'd get offers like that on a car with such high mileage.

IF you go back there, tell them that it is quite possibly one of the most ridiculous sales on a 99-04 Mustang anyone has ever heard of.

I bought my '99 back in '04 with 48,000 miles for 9500.....

People are *like said above* gettting 99-01's with HALF that mileage for around, or less than that price.

But yeah, a 99 GT with 100K+ miles is more in the $6-7K range.

I have, didnt find much.

What kind of highway mileage does a 5 speed GT get?

Lets be honest, where does a 99 + GT stand with an LS1? I've driven them both, but they were not like right after each other, so i couldnt really tell. People made me think the stangs were dogs, so i was surprised, but the LS1 = powerhouse. Stock for stock, LS1 is faster, but how much $ does it take to make the stang a competitior?

A few bolt ons and a 100 shot of nitrous should get the job done. Or you could just slap on a S/C or turbo, or you could dig deep and do full bolt ons with cams and heads.

Theres a red 99 GT with a 5spd manual for sale for $9900 with 82,500 miles on it. Its a private seller and the guy said the price is negotiable, but maybe the bank can give you $9000 for it and you can pick it up, and guess what, the motor is FORGED!! And its in Springfield. I was born and raised in Bloomington, IL.

That reminds me of when I was looking for my first mustang back in December before I bought the 06...I found a lady down the street from me selling a beautiful, black, 01 GT with around 50K (don't remember the exact number.) So I call her up, ask for a price, and she says 19,000 "because it was financed and she needed to clear the title."

I would say somewhere around 7000-7500 should get you out the door. Don't get caught up on that one car. Be patient and check autotrader and Ebay daily and you will find what you are looking for.

RRStang98

There is a 97 Stang around here that i almost bought but didnt have the money. 9k gets you the whole spare(perfectly running)motor plus the motor that is in the car with forged everything top to bottom, inside and out. The car is sick. Its got 100 shot of nitrous and cobras cant even touch this car. Its street legal and from what i remember its an 11sec car.

I bought my 1999 GT (all are anniversary editions) with 53K miles for $11K out the door last year......That guy is asking a outragious price.

I looked for about four months before I found mine (at a European car dealer...no less..lol)...Be patient, and you will find a diamond in the rough..

I really like the way this car looks. Its red, not the stock GT hood, blacked out tail lights, um Ford Mustang style "berger panel" if you know what i'm talking about.

I just also dont know if i wanna buy a mustang, obviously, I'm GM guy, if you couldnt tell, haha, but i liked this car, but knowing i'll be slower than a LS1 also pushes me away.

Look man, I love GM as well, and I could have bought a used F-body instead of my GT. Even though it's slower,I hav'nt had any reliability issues at all, and thats including a drive I took across country....not bad for a 8 year old car.....If your interested in performance as your primary reason of choice without doing alot of modifying...then yes the LS1 is for you, but anything else it's a wash as far as I'm concerned...

Red Turbo Integra
07-10-2007, 02:09 PM
Well, you could buy an older integra GSR for cheap, rebuild the motor with forged internals, slap on a turbo kit, crank the boost and beat them both and call it a day for around 8k, maybe less! :DJust kidding. I've never owned a mustang although I wouldn't be at all opposed to it, I have owned a camaro, and it was one of my favorite cars untill it got totaled. It was so damn comfortable to me. Like your laying down while driving, it was great for me since I used to drive a great distance every weekend. Anyhow, either way between LS1 and the Stang, you'll probably be happy.

something you would have to watch out for in that high mileage stang is the intake manifold. It was all plastic on that year stang, and they tend to crack.check up front right by thermostat housing for any cracks. And does the car actually have the anniversary package, or just the badges on the side?

I'm not sure, didnt really pay attention to the badges, but the it said 35th aniversary edition on the speedometer area. Had a different hood, black out tail lights and as i've said, the ford style "berger panel"

What are you after? Performance right out of the box? Personally, I would'nt buy a Mustang or Camaro with over 100K on the clock from a dealer.....At least from a private seller they would have maintinence records and the possibility of picking it up from a original owner..I would wait for a better deal for now...pick up a bucket/beater for a few hundred bucks to hold you over until you have more money saved....

ZChevyMan28

I guess because I already did the Camaro thing...I used to own a 1995 Z28...back in the late 90's.....So this time around I wanted something different......SO WALLA, MUSTANG.

By the time the OD hit 100K miles I went through two water pumps and a transmission.......I bought the car in December of 1996 w/ 34K miles.....

The reason is I've already owned a F-body before,so this time I wanted something different....You can only own so many cars in your lifetime...So I wanted a different flavor this time around....and so far I've got no complaints....Since I own a Vette,I still have the LSx flavor as well...

FWIW, my car has 129k miles and I've had to replace a catalytic converter at 30k (done under warranty and then scrapped for longtubes), the alternator (at 102k), and the steering rack is leaking a bit (got a replacement, just haven't put it in). Nothing too major. And it runs better than new.;)
