Who in threr right mind installed those ugly side markers. Why do you say its a 289 hipo? Is it a true hipo or is it what some one told you it was. A true hipo will have a 4 bolt main and solid lifters and screw in studds.

The Front red side marker is also not legal. it should be clear or amber.

The rear red side marker is legal. The red side marker on the front fender is not legal and the 67 never had side markers it was not intill 68 that side markers were installed. The rear was red and the fronts where clear with amber bulbs. I would recommend removing both the front and rear it would look much nicer.

This is my 67 fastback notice no side markers it is stock and it gives it smother lines.

Yes I know that they also made dual master brake cylinders manditory in 67 per federal law. I have my state brake and lamp license. I am required to stay on top of all the state and federal laws concerning brake and lamp systems. My license expires in 2005 and then I have o take the state test again. it cost around $80.00 for both.

as u can see im from israel, and my car is first hand (my grandfather car) so at the 70`s in israel the israeli Traffic Department made stupid law about side lights... so my grandpa had to change the sidelights.

any way i want my car to stay as it is . not everyday u get firsthand mustang....

i had an idea to put streetavnger 800cfm and much wormer camshft and edelbrock heds.

i got flow masters , 4 koni`s , front and rear  sway bars, expton  hipo rear leafs, and rear disk brakes, and hedman heders.

can u tel me what kind of parts (make and kind pls) i can put on my 289hipo that will give 400 hp?

thanks for ur help.

Port and polish the heads. Have larger valves installed you can put 194, 160 valves in the hipo heads with a little machine work. I recommend manley pro flow valves also install roller rockers. If you have a true 289 hipo then you will already have screw in studds so you won't have to modify them. Have the crank custom ground and polished and install a higher compression set of pistons and put a better cam in. This will add more HP and will keep the motor looking stock. If you want add a edlebrock intake and matching carb or install a demon carb. Ford motor sport has some bad ass heads that would also work great but the cost is up there.

Sorry did not mean to make you made with the lights comments. I was just giving my side.

I think you should go out and buy every performance ford engine book you can, i didnt know a whole lot about engines and how to make power untill i purchaced  a few. You will be supprised how many little things you can do that add up to more hp and what combinations also. 400hp is kinda a stretch for a 289 especially for bolt-ons, get the ford v8 performance engines on a  budget book, it has some great combinations for inexpensive high hp engines.
