Not being racist or anything, some old asians drive really slow and pisses me off. They drive 25mph in a 40 mile and hour zone. Senior Citizens are also up there. Sorry if i offended anyone, just stated some facts.

I am a senior citizen, and I also get pissed at folks who drive below the speed limit, and stop in the middle of the road to make a turn. So, don't put the blame on seniors or Asians. It is just about everybody who does this.
I think it depends on the kid. I have a friend who is a complete dumb ass, a nice kid, just a retard and will go 130+ with 4 people in the car without thinking twice.
I must say that I am similar to your friend, I'll go as fast as I can go, but I only go that fast with one of my friends. He's the only one that trusts my driving (not that my driving is bad or anything), he just doesn't scare as easily as most of my other friends.
But back to the topic at hand, I had the same mentality (sp?) you have, that I was going to get a classic mustang period and I got one. Just stick to your guns, take the time to plan out your argument and you should hopefully win your parents over. I come from a school exactly the same as yours where mostly everybody gets a $50,000 car from their mommy or daddy and just doesn't care about. There's only 2 classic cars at my school and soon to be 3 when I finish mine.

You, racist ... never. BTW, I've been told that the reflexes start to go as we age , hence the reason for taking things a bit slower to give more time to react ... right Glen?
Speak for yourself child. I'm in Glen's age bracket and have gone thru my second childhood several times. Reflexes slower - shure. Cautious - you bet. Agressive behind the wheel - yes. Intollerant of 'slow' drivers - hell yes. Jim

Sadly, Jim, in the eyes of the younger members of this board, I'm closer to you and Glen than I am themselves.
I'm with you on drivers who move so slowly that they are more like obstacles than fellow motorists. I must admit being much more tolerant of seniors behind the wheel knowing that it is probably in everybody's best interests that they take things a bit slower. My grandfather was a physician and bought a new fast car EVERY year and drove them like they were meant to be driven (ever seen a guy in his 80's racing and ditching cops?) . I knew he was getting old when he bought the Toyota Camry and started driving slowly ... of course, he was 90.
Being retired, I miss the commute - not. I do miss the young ladies driving while talking on their cell phones, drinking a cup of coffee, putting on lipstick, changing the radio station and quieting the kids in the back seat on the way to the sitters. I do miss the guys shaving, reading the paper, adjusting the GPS destination, eating a 'Breakfast Jack' and cursing the young lady for drifting into his lane. Did I miss anything? Jim
Well, I wasn't going to participate in this thread because I think the parents are right in this case. While there are some kids that are responsible there are too many that do not understand how to participate in civilized traffic. Yes, I'm sensitive to the older driving cracks, but then I haven't been involved in a traffic accident since I was a teenager. Do not even get me started on DUI, this happened 2 miles from my house last Sunday night. http://ap.lancasteronline.com/4/pa_multiple_fatal_wreck

There are no classic cars at my school, unless you consider a 2000 an antique like the kids at my school.

Sorry to hear that, but it sounds like your argument is more that teenagers shouldn't drive at all versus classis cars are more dangerous than newer cars. I doubt that person was driving a classic.
The numbers are against kids. In California, a driver under 25 cannot have passengers under 25 unless there is someone over 25 in the car. This is because the statistics indicate more kids get killed with other kids driving. I don't know how well it's enforced, as in a car load of kids going to school, but it seems like it misses the entire point of driving safely, and then again it may not. A distracted driver is the worst driver on the road today no matter how old. Jim According to the 2007 World Almanac, 46,200 Americans were killed in 2004 as a result of traffic related accidents. In 2003, 34 percent were alcohol related.

Actually, I live in california, and you cannot have passengers under 25 for your first year, and If you get your license when you are 18 you can drive anyone right away.
Harry, I don't have that situation, either if I drive or if a minor drives and I'm in the car. I know that some legislation was passed to restrict the driving of those under 25. You seem to fit in that catagory. Jim Santa Clara - future home of the 49ers
In OH (this was recently passed) I can only have one passenger who is not related to me or a legal adult.
Sorry to say teens, but your predecessor teens have caused the laws to change against you so that there are restrictions against you that are not applied to we seniors. Jim kind of summed it up above.
Yup, 'bout two miles from the bottom of the bay, 'bout a quarter mile from their training camp, next to Great America - the Santa Clara 49ers. Harry, Have your father read this post, from your original concern. It may give them some insight as to your attitude and some of the people on here that are also in agreement with you. Jim
Thats not a bad idea. I think he might be more for it than i thought. I think he would rather have me buy one for like 9 or 10 grand rather than like 3 grand. Before he said he would pay any money towards it and then he told me if I got 5 grand he would think about putting up the other half so thats good.
Now back to this new "law". Do you have anything supporting your statement? I have a real hard time believing this seeming as this is the first I have heard of it.
I didn't know about that law....when did it pass?? And to make something clear........the niners are stayin in the bay
The 49er's should stay in the bay area. They are the San Francisco 49ers for Christs sake. I laugh when I hear that the Arizona Cardinals are playing. The Cardinals are the St. Louis Cardinals in my memory. Damn, I am getting old.
Let's see, there's the 'Irvine' Cowboys; the 'East Rutherford, New Jersey' Giants, the 'East Rutherford, New Jersey' Jets, the 'Orchard Park' Bills, the 'Landover, Maryland' Redskins to name a few. Jim
