Default 351 cleveland rebuild??

my first car was a 72 mach 1 w/ a 2v 351 cleveland..... i let my friend drive it and it was totalled....( needless to sayhe's no longer my friend) haha... anyway the engine and internals are still good..... my dad asked me what i had planned for it... so i got to thinking about rebuilding it and maybe droping it into my 69. but as i have serched on this forum. it seems like there isnt a great aftermarket for the cleveland. ive looked on jegs and summit ect... and all i found were manifold and carbs and hooker headers. no heads oreven piston kits, is this not worth my time due to the lack of aftermarket for them... right now this is just an itch im just kinda scratching the surface.... and would like to get some of the experts ideas around here... you guys have always be alot of help and i appreciate it.. thanks

just because its not in a summit catalog doesnt mean it doesnt exist. im pretty sure edelbrock makes heads, and CHI makes wicked sweet heads and intakes. je will give you any pistons you want, and speedpro/sealed power/trw/federal mogul has been making pistons for the C motors since the day ford started producing them

haha theres no need for despair theres tons of aftermarket parts check out this site www.ausfordparts.com and theres no need for a huge aftermarket since the stock heads are so good to begin with needing just a little port work to make them street killers

well the engine only has 177 hp and 284 ft lbs if it has such good heads whats so bad on that engine to make it so that it only has those stats. the heads i have are 2v's. could it be the low compression.. 8.6:1???

isnt there alot more potential to be gained out of the cleveland?? then the windor i have now?

Stock 2V or for that matter 4V heads suck, and yeah, with a paultry 8.6:1 static compression, you're not exactly a powerhouse. As far as Summit/Jegs....they have a LOT of stuff that's not listed in their catalog/site. If you find a part number for a manufacturer they carry, put it in and I almost garuntee the part will come up on their site, even if it's not listed in the general stuff you search for....that's how I get a lot of my stuff from them, even though they don't list it under the headings

72 is when the emissions started, so power was cut

remember, my vote counts as 10, so thats 10 for yes, 0 for no, the odds are for it, god wants this to happen

anyway, its not a big block as far as displacement, but as size, it is, it will have more potential for power without Nitrous or boost
