The 5.0 will build you more power and will be cheaper insurance wise, however, it may have to go into the repair shop more often than the sixer simply because of the age of the car.
I'll be honest with you, i like fox bodies, but i have a 2000 V6, and have actually beaten 2 foxbody GTs in a race, so after that, I kinda decided to hang on to my sixer and mod it. Now if you had some extra money put away, and sold your sixer, get a 99GT or somethin, now that would be a real quick car.
You have to also think about the ladies who look at your car man, I got a 04 v6 and ive gotten so many compliments from random people and losts of chicks saying nice car and whatnot. Where as a Fox can be built really easily/beastly, and looks MUCH older and not appealing to the females, a v6 with work put into it can be sometimes betting then fox gts at times. But then again its your choice of riding man. Good Luck!
i have owned a '02 v6 and a '90 lx 5.0 and they are both great cars. for a daily driver the newer one will be more comfortable to drive around a lot and it won't have to visit the shop a lot. the 5.0 is a great fun car if you don't mind fixing little things all the time(at least mine i have to). the 5.0 was cheaper on insurance. gas mileage isn't that bad i average about 18 mpg in the city where i got about 23 or so in the v6. i personally like the fox better just because my dad had one when i was really little and i have always wanted one. the newer 'stang is a much smoother ride though and the fox doesn't even have cup holders haha

The old 5.0's arn't nearly as fuel efficient as a new edge 3.8. You could argue that the gas consumption is close to the same between 4.6's and 3.8's, but not the 5.0. Gas guzzler.
Well hey, if you get the V8 you can dog on all the people drivin sixers, but if you keep the sixer you can brag about your gas mileage in a "hybrid" world. mustangjohn, get the fox body, enjoy the 5.0L V8, and be a balla.

Really.................that's interesting.............. I have a 5.0 pushing 280 rwhp, and I still get 21/22 mpg with mixed driving, which is only a hair pin worse than edge sixers.

Yours might get good gas mileage for a v8, but you can't guarantee that his will. I'm guessing you have dual exhaust, cia, udp?? A edge sixer will get better gas mileage with those same mods too. Stock for stock, a new edge sixer will get better gas mileage than an 5.0, because we are talking about stock cars here arn't we?
It's all about personal taste ... I've owned everything from fast 5.0's to turbo 2.3's & now have an Edge 3.8 ... if you have to have that V8 exhaust tune in your ears (and who doesn't like the sound of an American 8) then NOTHING else will do. I prefer the styling of my '99 to the softer 94-98, and even the Fox bodies I once owned & loved. I got around the same mileage in either my 86 GT (poor stock head design that year) and my 99 V6 in town ... like the previous posts, I like to put my foot in it regularly. However, in my '99, I can still get 30MPG on the highway at 70MPH with the A/C on ... Mod for mod, you can't beat the power of a V8 -- but $ for $$, it's hard to beat the overall cost of ownership of a modern-day V6.

actually, it's pretty damn easy to guarentee it. back when i just had a blower on my GT, i got about 19 city and 23+ highway. i would come in this section and see all sorts of posts from v6 owners complaining about their 13 city 17 highway mileage.
i see more consistancy with v8 gas mileage in the 20s for highway than i do for the v6.
