If anything.

I would go with the N line over the D.

I would pick an N1,2,3 over a D3 anyday of the week.

There are so many options available with the N's over the D.

Plus you can find an N1 for cheap.

N1's are DD.

Also look at Eclipse's last years AVN6600, or the current 6610. And the 5510. Awesome units as well.

N1,2, and 3's are not double din.

They are single din fold outs.

My bad yo.

They are gay then. Anyone who owns one is strait up gay.

Foldout's block your climate controls though.

Climate control blockers for the ultimate loss.

Hey Guys, I guess I’m a bit of a newbie here. But I thought I would give you some input on the Pioneer AVIC-D2, I just recent installed one in my 2006. I would highly recommend it AVIC-D2 over the D-3 my reasons being.

AVIC-D2
Pros: AVIC-D2 has two CD slots. Unit has 1 slot for CD-ROM music and another slot for DVD-ROM navigation software.
Cons: Volume button is push slide button gets the job done but a little slower to turn down your music when very loud.  You can not watch DVD movies on the bottom drive only used for software. but there is a hook up if you want install DVD player in trunk. Cost a little more but worth it.

AVIC-D3
Pros:  It has a volume control button that spins 360 which allows to tyurn down music fast!  Face buttons colors are changeable and will match Fords Mycolor idea.
Cons: Doesn’t allow to you keep GPS DVD software in meaning you’ll have to switch out your music CD to DVD Software CD every time you reprogram new route or way point.

Hope you find this helpful, also if you’re looking for more information on these head units check out www.AVIC411.com Great forums and very useful. Also there is a selection how to crate and change/customize your AVIC Background wallpaper.   I’ll get you some screen shots of mine installed. Looks good… Hope you get one and enjoy it… Spend the Money D2 it’s worth every penny.

- Ryan

Having to remove the Nav disk to play DVD or Audio CD IS just GAY. Therefore, the 2 disk system would win in comparison everytime. It amazes me that any company would even make a one disk system when the NAV info needs a drive.
A lot more money, but what about the AVIC-Z1 unit. It has one drive but it's free as the NAV info is stored on hard disk, which is also available for ripping music onto.

You're not going to get a good DD unit with Nav for 700-ish in a retail outlet, that's basically it.

Look on Ebay for D2/D3 units, they tend to hover round that price on there

I would say around $1,500. Depending on what deals are going on and what steals you can stumble across.

Woofersetc has the eclipse AVN-5500 for a grand. I installed one in a G35 a couple months ago and it is a very nice unit.
