by "worth more" what do you mean? as in a couple years? depends on miles on the car and condition...

If the car is going to be built to the same spec, there won't be much difference after 6 years or so.

Neither of them will be worth "more" that quick, if ever.  We won't know that for 30 years.

Agreed if your question is as an investment then your buying it for the wrong reason.  If your question is will I ever get that $20K markup back then no.

Its a new car. It doesnt matter. Dont pay over MSRP. I have already been offered these cars at MSRP. Expect to lose 20% when you drive it off the lot. After that expect to lose around 10% a year. As to future values it will likely have a lot to do with where performance heads over the next 20 years. There are things looming on the horizon that could make the 2010's a replay of the 1970's in which case the car may become fairly valuable. However with the C7 Vette expected to have 500 bhp in a 3100 lb package and the Z06 replacement expected to have 600 bhp in a 3000 lb package I suspect performance is headed up not down at least through the next 5 years.

Its not a real Shelby (Much like the 1969's and 1970's). It was neither developed (SVT developed as their last vehicle) nor manufactured by Shelby. Although he was officially a "consultant" its primarily just a licensing agreement for a name Ford thought would sell better. It also is being produced in much higher numbers than cars like the Shelby Cobra 427 SC (37 cars) or original 1967 GT500. I suspect if any of the current Shelby's have any real collector interest in the future it will be the Super Snake. The most valuable of the original GT500's are the 1967's with the optional 427 (Std was the 428 PI). These were extremely low volume cars. In the 1980's I turned down a chance to buy a GT500 427 for less than the price of a then new 5.0 Mustang. I bought a 1969 Corvette L71/L89 instead (427/435 Tripower with Aluminum heads) so I came out okay.

PS Ask the Corvette guys what happened to the values of the ZR1 in the short term.

well that can be answered in sort of a riddle...in 1990 what was worth more the jets number 2 pick Blair Thomas Rookie card or Dallas Cowboys later pick Emmitt Smiths rookie card. No one knew then...plus it is not worth sheeyat...unless you have a buyer willing to pay your price....thats what makes investments risky....bottom line though is as someone said earlier and I have said in several posts....its a car that is in production...its a car that is being sold for 15-20k over sticker....cars depreciate in value as soon as you drive it off the lot...that car is already starting 15-20k behind the 8-ball....dont invest in cars....drive and enjoy cars....heck in 30 years for all we know...gasoline powered cars could be obsolete....who knows....buy the car because you want the car to enjoy it....

The next Z06 will be a supercharged version of the current Z06 set to be the "Z06 SS" or Corvette C6 "SS".... How do I know, a friend is a consultant for GM :D  It is set to be released in late 2008 as a 09 model, along side the new Camaro.

Guys, you should really do your homework before posting.  Are you saying that Shelby GT350's, for example, were not real Shelbys?  Just like those Shelbys, the base Mustang is manufactured by Ford, then sent to Shelby American in Las Vegas for their folks to do the conversion to a Shelby GT.  Now, having said that, the GT 500 is not sent to Las Vegas;  it is entirely manufactured in Michigan.

Yea I can get that around here too on a Shelby GT, but I though we were discussing the GT500?

why?? It will go up in value based on what....because the name died....no...thats not how it will work..it could go up in value if and when the product dwindles after he dies...no guarantees...but to say it will be worth 100K when he dies...not likely...allot of other factors would have to be considered and happen before it would market a price like that... and I still dont buy into the investment part...there are allot more stable investments out there that will warrant a good ROI, a car is not a wise one...

First, I think ALL Shelby stuff is crapp. Back in 65 he made a car for the track that was good but. BFD , no one had one, the crap that was sold as a Shelby was just that. and now They are worth 20X + what it cost new. That will be the same for the 2007 Shelby. Some people may not think so. That’s their opinion.  A shelby is a good investment. Worth it as far as quality goes. NOT. Soon as the old fart dies , all those mustangs that had Shelby wrote on the glove box will be worth more. BTY. A new Shelby 1968 sold for around $5500, they go for around 100,000 now. I could have bought a 1968 AC Cobra 427 for $6000 off the dealer floor. Now they are $1,000,000+
A 2007 Shelby will be sold for $100,000 very shortly. Invest  or not. That’s your opinion.
Because you say a Shelby will not go up in value means the same as me saying that they will. The difference is I have history on my side.

ZZmustang....first off no disprespect here....but before you rest your opinon on what you state that you have history on your side...read up on some facts...Only 562 Shelby Mustangs were made; 12 were race models; 36 were "R" models; 516 were street GT 350 models. These cars were all released by Carroll Shelby on January. 27, 1965. The price of the base Shelby's were about $4,000. They weren't quick and fast sellers, but they were bought by real car enthusiasts, which is who they were intended for in the first place.of those 562 original shelbys, it is believed only 100 or so are in existence and this is 42 years later. Thus the high price. as far as the follow up years to the launch...there are more and more models in existence but very few have there original equipment. the ones that warranted the higher price tags were the limited ones. and again it was 30-40++ years later...some original shelbys were auctioned On ebay but never sold as the sellers min bid was never met...some had the high buy...but again...that is based on a market that was more limited originally with numbers and as I stated earlier..you have to guarantee a higher demand with a dwindling product on the newer model (as the old model has done in 40 years ++)  2006 / 07 more than 7000 shelby gt500's were produced with plans for 3000-4000 more. so again, to my point to say that the product is going to go up in value is a falicy and to base it on history of the shelby is also not the bottom line. You have to have a shortage in these cars..so you are telling me that when Shelby dies...the product line will dwindle down all of the sudden...you dont think that 7000++ owners are thinking the same way?? so thus our quandry...plenty of supply....where is the demand,,,,I can go to 4 local ford dealers....each one has at least 1 shelby gt500 some 2 with 2 to 3 on the way with the 2008 model...supply is there..demand not as they would like....so with your theory..I guess those Dodge Daytona Shelby Z owners should hang on to their cars as well?? heck they have his name and will be worth a fortune right...again, not trying to argue with you here...but invest in a car.....again...it is PROVEN....it is NOT OPINION....is not the wisest investment.... buy the shelby..because you want the car....dont buy it with the expectation of a return on your investment...

In 1968 the concept of collector car and especially collector muscle car was not known.  Today everyone knows the story.  Back then one company made baseball cards (Topps) now there is a flood of companies and the cards are worth crap and will never be worth what  1950's Topps collector cards are worth today.  Similarly there is a flood of "special edition" mustangs: Shelby, Saleen, Roush, Foose and more.  It's watered down and the Shelby history on the 07 Shelby (unlike the 65, 66; can be written in a paragraph.  Carrol Shelby is well removed from this car and everyone knows it.  What was then is nothing like what is now.  The 68 Shelby would not be worth 100k today if only the original 6k was invested.  If you put 6k away at 5% for 40 years you'd have almost 50k.  Granted there are taxes but maintaing/garaging/repairing/restoring/insuring such a car could easily run over the 50k differential here.   JMO, but I don't see buying any new car as an investment.  Those days were a one time thing and are long gone.   There could be issues someday with fuel, environment, legistlation such that these cars may be less desirable than more.  No way I would put money in this, there are much better/safer long term investment vehicles than "vehicles".  JMHO, everyone is entitled to invest as they please.

I think a 06 LegendLime GT, spoiler delete, 5 speed will be worth more than a 07 Shelby.  ok, maybe just worth the same .  ...I'm not saying that because I own such a GT cause I don't; only wish I did.
