Shelby GT

I was at a dealer and I saw a Shelby GT. I wondering if anyone had any onfo on this car. I'm looking to trade my 04 mustang in and was wanting a GT. I noticed the shelby GT was priced a bit higher, but not as high as the 500. does anyone thing these are good cars or would you stick with a regular GT.

shelby GT is basically a regular GT with about 30 more HP, a different body kit, and shelby badges...all this for about $10,000 - $12,000 more. nice cars but not worth that much more money to me. to some, just the shelby name is worth that much

Unless you plan on the car being in a collection, not worth it. You can get more power out of a standard GT with a good tune and intake. The FRPP intake and tune are very conservative.

You pay for the Shelby name and that is basically it. For $600 you could get a CAI and a Tune for a regular GT and you will have more power than the Shelby already.

unless you want it for collector reasons get a regular gt and some mods. You will be able to get much more power with mods for less $$.

Hell, for the price of a Shelby GT you could get a GT Deluxe and supercharge it.

Well...according to the Ford Racing Performance Parts website...the GT-H is a GT with the following options: Power Upgrade Package...$889 Handling Package...$1,149 Race Rear Brake Pads x2...$410 Performance X-Pipe...$139 So about a total of $2587 for the "performance" additions. Add in $360 for the Ford Racing Stripes and a bit more for the grill/decorations and you have about a 3k package before the 10 man hours (per latest Motor Trend) to convert a GT to a GT-H. I wonder how this rough estimation will translate into real world cost. I'd rather see an inbetween of the GT and GT500. Call it a GT350 or Boss.

The Shelby GT is a joke...... 319 HP to be exact....Over priced.... A good CAI and tune and you better then that.. not worth it..

carrol shelby was interviewd saying the car makes 325-330 hp, but due to ford they just listed it lower. its not a straightline car, but handling car. SCCA and all taht ****. and, more than anything, its a shelby. if you plan on selling it in the future you will get your money back. but its not for everyone, some people just dont get it. do what you want, im getting a shelby gt, some think im crazy.

From a performance standpoint, there is nothing on the Shelby GT that you can't order from FRPP and have installed on a standard GT. And as for being a better handling car, I'd put money on either a Roush or Saleen Mustang with the same power in a handling match. But in 20+ years, I'm sure a Shelby GT will fetch more money than a regular Mustang GT.

Some can say what they want about a Shelby GT, but I absolutely love mine. I won't badmouth the GT's in comparison to a Shelby GT in my response, like some GT owners badmouth the Shelby GT. Either they don't get it or they don't want to, and that's fine. The car is about much more than a simple sum of its parts. Time will tell, but over the long term I believe that the Shelby GT will hold its value much better than a GT. Personally, I plan to keep mine for many years just to find out! Some added info in case you don't know; The Shelby GT's begins life as a GT at the Michigan Ford plant; from there they are shipped to Shelby American in Las Vegas, where they are converted by Shelby personnel into the Shelby GT and briefly road tested. Then they are shipped by closed-carried to the various dealers or directly to owners. Owner's may also special-order Shelby GT's to include other items such as specialized braking systems and superchargers. GT 500's, oddly enough, never see the Shelby headquarters; they are entirely manufactured in Michigan.

One 2007 GT-D w/ 3.55 Axle at $24,000 Street Price ($26,540 MSRP) + Roush 427R Pkg $15,599 at list. 415 bhp as shipped and 427 bhp with Off-Road Exhaust installed for $39,599. Best buy in a Showroom Supercar unless you can get a GT500 at MSRP.

Hey ilmor dont let them get to you, I find myself having to defend my Cobra (MSRP, performance, looks, resale value or something else.) all the time. What really succs is that their all Mustang owners.
