up until last night I was going to leave it stock, then I went on the shelby website and I was like a kid in the candy store "ooohh I want this...and that...oohh oohh that too...woowwww thats cool Im gonna get that too!"
haha. besides is it really a mod if I have shelby autos do it?? ehh maybe. lol.
I think the 3:55's are perfect, but opinions vary of course. Personally I would not want 3:73's or lower gearing since first gear is already low enough for street use in my opinion.

2007 Shelby GT CSM No. 07SGT1917 Performance White Hurst 5 Speed No Mods = More Gas Money
So about a total of $2587 for the "performance" additions. Add in $360 for the Ford Racing Stripes and a bit more for the grill/decorations and you have about a 3k package before the 10 man hours (per latest Motor Trend) to convert a GT to a GT-H. I wonder how this rough estimation will translate into real world cost.
I'd rather see an inbetween of the GT and GT500. Call it a GT350 or Boss.
Keep in mind the C/S kit is included with the Shelby GT plus all of the other doodads like functional hood pins and plaques and sil plates According to the various websites (mostly what you can get off Shelby Preformance Parts already) these are worth about $2500 with the bulk of the charge going to the C/S kit and the nice wheels.
The pack last I remember was $11,500 not 12,000.
So that's $5500 plus $700 for good labor. In the end you have a car with 50 more or whatever HP, and a name plate that costs $5000. It would be FAR more economical to make your own shelby clone, and put a $5000 supercharger in it (factory option in 08).
If however you look at it from an investment standpoint, the Shelby GT should be a better investment than a GT, so you should get that $5000 right back out when you are done with the car. In theory.
In my oppinion though you are really just blowing a grand or two when you are done with everything. Leasing however might be a whole other story, because if they stand by their claims that this is an investment/collector car, then they should also offer killer leases on it.
Anyway I'd take that sort of viewpoint to Ford Finance then see what they say, in the end if a name makes you happy then go for it, for me a supercharger would please me wayy more... :)
Edit: if they are SERIOUSLY charging $7900 for the shelby pack as the window sticker in the previous post on page 2 indicates (last I remember it was $11,500), then that is a HUGE steal if the C/S pack is already included.

I would agree with this for sure. The 3.55's are perfect for the street. But,
If you plan on seeing some track time, Road or strip, i would be thinking more like 4.10's unless you go with the S/C then 3.73's.
I love both the shelby gt and shelby GT500, but as fair as the shelby gt. Its not a bang for the buck car, its just not. You get it cuz its a shelby, & people are going to gawk at it all the time :)
If your looking into a bang for ur buck stang, look at roush or saleen. I would say the GT500 would be the best bang for ur buck if it was at msrp...once again, its a shelby.
My only real problem w/ the shelby gt for the money is there just not enough. i think some upgrade brakes w/ a sc for about 39Gmsrp would be a car(come on ford/shelby, i know u guys can do it).
I just want to say once again, i love the shelbys alot! and would take one in a heart beat. but if the name didnt mean anything to me, i would look else were for my money spent, period.

Hey ilmor dont let them get to you, I find myself having to defend my Cobra (MSRP, performance, looks, resale value or something else.) all the time. What really succs is that their all Mustang owners.
LOL, Nothing new there!
There will always be a handfull that just gota tell you why they would not buy one for what ever reason. Your never going to see the end of it. it's just a few and the opinions don't mean crap because everybody's got one. They just don't get it and never will, but, thats ok. Give it about another week to 2 weeks and their will be a new thread about the comparison and how they did not buy because of this or that and we will rehash another thread. Never ending Shelby cycle. After owning my Shelby Gt, I could never go back to a regular no frills Gt. I would have to put to much money into it to get it the way my shelby is now and the car would just not be a Shelby Package. Key word being "Package" Not just a sume of parts but the whole "Package".
LOL

Do you secretly drool over Shelbys, and do not let anyone know your love for them? Do you try to justify not owning a shelby even though you really want one? Do you voice your opinion on the weakness of the shelby automobiles?
Then you may be suffering from SDS, and with a couple saved dollars you may be able to cure yourself. Call your local ford dealer for the Shelby right for you.
(possible side effects may include, but not limited to: Pissing yourself at high speeds, Getting unwanted panties thrown at your car, everlasting grin from ear to ear, and may possibly bring out other victims of SDS)
