i just recently spent 2k on a 77 cobra and have recently bought another 77 and a 78 cobra as well.. the new 77 and the 78 have brushed aluminum dash and the 2k dollar 77 cobra has a wood grain does that mean anything? and will the hoods interchange from 77 to 78? And i dont think my 77 cobra has a 77 302 in it i cant be sure because i cant find the block code? Im new at working on II's any help would be appreciated.

p.s does anyone know a good place to get parts for these cars?

welcome to the forums! we'd love to see pics of these cars!!!

the hoods will swap no problem, as will virtually every other part off the car from 75-78 (there were a few different things in 74, but even those will actually swap over)

the woodgrain was just an option... some came with wood and some came with aluminum. some came with a rally style steering wheel, some came with the plain jane wheel.

the block code is on the side of the block near the starter on the passenger side, should start with D and then a number.

if your looking for II specific parts, ebay can be good or try phils mustang II specialty shop in al - just google it for his phone number.  really, if you have all these cobras you should be doing pretty good for parts if your only trying to build one car. heck, if you have some extra parts i may be interested in buying or trading for some stuff.

just an FYI..... V8 parts for II's are worth their weight in gold. motor and frame mounts, flywheels / flexplates, oil pan and pickup tube, transmisson bellhousing, torque converter, exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust tranny crossmember, radiator, fan shroud,  and probably some other stuff im forgetting
