A lot of the people hear are new to the "Mustang/stick" world and power shifting a 300 HP car can be dangerous. But If you want to, Hears a good way to learn.
Find a long stretch of road, Start out in 1st gear and just cruse, bring the RPMs up to about 2500/3000, Pick one, Leave the RPMs at what ever you choose and shift as fast as you can. Don't push the gas down or let off it, If you miss, you wont hurt anything. Now go to the next gear with the RPMs still right where you put them, shift. If the RPMs are to high for you choose a lower RPM to practice at. You may find that your shifter might not let you power shift ( to long of a throw) A short throw shifter is best. The more you do this the better at it you will become and then you can do it at a higher RPM, Someday you can leave the line with your foot on the floor and not lift until the end of the 1/4 mile. But don't try that without some slower practice first. Any questions? Class dismissed!!
Good tip. My shifting is pi** poor since I hadn't driven a stick in 14 years. It's getting better but still leaves a lot to be desired. I might just give that a try.
Note that this does put a bit more stress on your clutch, but in normal street driving, you're not likely to be doing it that often, and undue wear will hopefully be minimal. But if you drag race the car occasionally, it will start taking a toll (as will dumping the clutch at 5000rpm off the line!). I've had my car about 2-1/2 years, and started powershifting this season in my quest for 12s quarter mile in a car with a power add, and I'm installing a Spec Stage II+ clutch and flywheel this week. The old clutch was finally starting to burn and slip a bit.

The problem with sticks is taking off fast. If you have power and try to take off fast, something has to give, The tires, the clutch, the rear end, the drive shaft, the axles, I replaced 5 clutch assemblies in one year when I was racing. With slicks, I left at 6000, The 9 inch was not going to break, the slicks held so, unless there is some magic formula for getting from zero to 50 instantly, the clutch catches H.
