I sure wish ford would do away with that thing in their doors that catch the door in the 1/2 open location. I can't tell you how many times I caught my door from running into a post at a gas pump because of that stupid system. The door should stop wherever you want it to stop, not some cam thing in the door that swings it to a preset position. I wonder how many door dings are the direct cause of this system?
What is/was the perpous of this system,

Why should we have to get used to that. It's a dumb system.

I have to agree with you, but on the other hand without em, any little thing could make it swing wide open or slam shut.  My jeep doors were free swinging and it got more annoying than doors with stops.

No, No , No
No free swinging, I said stop wherever we wanted it to stop. That would mean a hing that is kinda hard to open or close. Key word would be stop where we wanted it to. (Ok words)

I can live with that much easier than the fact that whenever I open my door, the glass goes down an eigth of an inch or so and flings rain or morning mist onto the seat...oh well, small price to pay for haulin' a$$...

GM vehicles have a few stops. The door hinges are notched a few times.

Yes, the purpose is that it can seal better that way.  As for the notch in the door swing, it works fine for me...just something to be aware of and used to it, no biggie.

I like the idea of  it stopping where you want it to, I think this is thier version of a comprimise.  I do like I can make it stop part way open though.  Many times I have had this feature save a leg from being smashed when on a slope lol atleast in my dodge.  No you are right we shouldnt have to get used to anything but this is a mass production car and thier are probably alot of people who like which means the car makers will keep it until a better system comes along.  It does prove useful at times and is much better than a free swingning door IMO.
