You know, this reminds me of a story I told a long time ago.

When I first met my business partner, I came to **** and was meeting the folks at his repair shop. While there I noticed a newer body style Mustang V6 getting its engine pulled. I asked what happened that the guy needed a new motor, the car looked brand new. Well, the owner of the car was sitting over in the corner at the time, stood up and said "Man, you know I had that car detailed every month for $110, but nobody ever told me I had to change the oil!". ROFL! Dude put 57,000 miles on the car - bought it brand new - and never changed the oil. Gawd... dude was paying $1300+ a year washing his car but never broke off of $8 to buy oil and a filter. Doh!

How do you NOT know to change the oil in your car?
That's almost as basic as knowing to Stop at a Red light and Go at a Green light...

Status: offline I have an ole magizine I get called MOTOR..they had a women who bought a new camaro with a v6 ten years later she notice the engine soon light came on she headed to a service station by that time the car quit.....the car was towed to a chev dealership to see what was the problem...after looking at it the engine was locked up...they pulled the engine and after tearing it down found it was basically a block of carbon..this car had a tick over 109k on the clock...when the lady was asked when was the last time the oil was change she has a blank look and replied never, didn't know it had to be changed......the mag had pic and everthing.....

Status: offline i try to get it done every 3k but its tough sometimes..even tho the local shop who does it puts a sticker reminding me of what mileage to come in at..but i forget frequently to look

i change mine between 3000 and 3500. That's what my pops always did, so that's what i do.

Oil companies want you to think that its best to change oil at 3k for long life, when in fact since the oils and engines of today are much better designed most manufacturers recommend 5-7k intervals - some even 12k oil changes with synthetic.
