Hey guys, well this really suxs, my mustang... is pretty much totaled and i dont even know what steps to take from here. I was on i95 going 60 my car hydroplaned i spun and i hit the wall, the front is pretty much gone!, Here are pics http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y235/nozracer/Mustang%20Crash/ so now i dont know if i should get it repaired, sell it, or junk it. Give me ideas guys what should i do? I only had PIP coverage so insurance is worthless, and also interestingly enough my airbags did not deploy. Help me out!
If sell it for parts... what my best option, and much could i get? How do i go about this?

Sorry to hear about it. Ive had close encounters in my first mustang also. Mustangs seem to not like the rain at all and if you push em even 15 mph around a turn, you hit the gas and your car is gonna go a complete 360. If you got some cash then id repair it or get a new one. If not, then id scrap it and sell the parts, if your gonna sell parts you mind listing some of the parts your car has that are unharmed?

Ive hydroplaned MANY times in my car.. but i had bald tires too.
Anyway, you may be in luck my friend. Did you buy your mustang from a Dealership? if so you may be able to sue them for not making sure they sold you a car with working airbags. This happened to my friend, she was doing a stupid 90 mph going down to Oregon and she FLIPPED her Jetta and the airbags didnt deploy and she broke her neck but got tons of money lol.
Glad to hear youre ok. Cars can be replaced people cant.....
Also, if you dont mind me asking, what size and kind of tire were you running on the back end of your car?
I dont agree with V-6stang16, my car handles just fine in the rain. Ive gone 100+ in the rain. Its all in the tires. If you have tires that are suited for it then you shouldnt have to worry about it too much. I ALWAYS buy rain specific tires for the summer, because hydroplaning sux. Happend to me once in an escort. A 1/2" wide bald strip on the inside of the tire caused it. The car wound up on its roof. -P.

Well yeah i did buy it from a dealer, but it was a toyota dealer and i bought it used..... so what are my options now?

Im using regular stock tires... the front ones are better than the back ones...

Airbags dont just deploy. The impact sensors are mounted just in front of the strut towers (usually). If you hit them from the side they WILL NOT deploy. They have have to be hit fron the front. Or slightly offset from the front. -P.
Thats a negative PZero. In a wreck as such the airbags have no choice but to deploy. When the car hits something the energy is sent throughout the car causing the bags to deploy and in theory even if you are correct the front end of car is smashed too so that would have caused them to go off.
Noz your options are to have your car inspected by a collison center or something along that line and have them examine the airbags system and present those findings to the dealership you bought the car from, you can settle it out of court or you can take them to court.

Believe it or not, its better to have more tread in the rear. Theres less weight in the back so its MORE prone to hydroplaning especially if the tires are bald or worn passed the treadwear indicators. You might as well have had slicks on the back. Rotating your tires every 6000 miles will help them live a MUCH longer life. And theres no reason to run a SUPER wide tire on a steet car. Running a 275, 315 or a 335 tire on the street is just stupid. While it might give you slightly better traction when it 75* and sunny, itll be WAY worse for your car in the rain, because a really wide tire needs to displace more water in order to get traction. Hence your cars come with 215's. -P.

Im sure it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Heres an example, a friend of mine with a escort GT basically had the front end torn off when he got hit on the left front of his car (at the wheel). His airbags did not deploy, even though it got hit literally on the impact sensor. Becuase he was hit from the side. And from what nozracer made it sound like his front end was also damaged by going sideways, not frontal. If he had a side impact sensor and side curtain airbags, that wouldve sensed the impact and deployed. -P. (I cant view the pics because of this stupid web blocker at work).
Yeah... all season tires are nice. But no matter what type of tire it is if its ball your gonna lose traction. Next time checking them regularly is the best.

Not all seasons, something along the lines of Dunlop SP8000's. Theyre directional, and have super wide circumferential groves specifically for hydroplaning resistance. And all of you driving a mustang year round really should have a set of snow tires, if you get snow. -P.
Yeah... Kuz bringing a lawsuit apon a dealership for selling him a car that possibly had airbag system failure is wrong.. Reguardless he should still have it inspected. From the pictures he posted the front end is damaged in such a way that the airbags should have deployed.
