Default replacing antenna assembly

I think my earlier question on antenna replacement was confusing. I need to know how to replace the entire antenna assembly on a 95 convertible as the radio end of the cable has broken off. You can see the antenna base through the door opening but it looks hard to get to. Can someone explain how to remove the base? Thanks in advance.
