WOOT! ON ITS WAY!!!

V6MustangKnight -> WOOT! ON ITS WAY!!! (6/28/2007 1:05:33 AM)

ok, in a previous post i had brought up, i was talking about what route would be better and so far people agree more with an s/c set up....no dont get all excited people, i dont have an s/c on its way....i wish.....i realize that its gonna take a pretty penny to get one and install it so i'm doing the next best thing and thats all the bolt-ons i can do to make my car more beefy [:D] i got a BBK CAI on the way and i'm excited! now i was wondering, since my car is a stick, should i still opt to get a tuner and if so, what would be a good brand? i really didnt think u had to tune a stick

Yes, you tune how much air to fuel you mix, and other things as well. I'm sure jthorn will hop in here and give you the specifics.

ehh u dont really need a tuner right now, id get gears, tlok , then tune it.

nanaki -> RE: WOOT! ON ITS WAY!!! (6/28/2007 7:59:49 AM)

you do realize that in the end, the cost of all the boltons will be in the same ballpark, if not more than it would be to buy a cheap SC?  and the power you get from said boltons will be far less than what you would get from a blower.

+1

Bolt ons really don't do much for the cost. The CAI is a good way for you to get aquainted with your engine, but don't expect to see any real gains with one. I'd go ahead and get my exhaust done next, and after that, screw the rest and save up for an S/C. A tuner will also come in handy down the road.

lovemy6 -> RE: WOOT! ON ITS WAY!!! (6/28/2007 3:38:20 PM)

at this point you dont need a tuner but with one you will be able to gain a few horses.......the only bolt on you will really need is exhaust

Xemeth -> RE: WOOT! ON ITS WAY!!! (6/28/2007 5:42:10 PM)

If you want the S/C, prepare to take off the CAI when you do get it. They both connect to the throttle body, so it's one or the other. The choice is obvious...

k, so next i'll buy a catback dual exhaust kit so put on my pony. then i'll start saving up for the s/c [:D] thanks for the tips guys [:)]

magik6stik9 -> RE: WOOT! ON ITS WAY!!! (6/28/2007 7:23:18 PM)

Also, I advise getting yourself some type of LSD before the s/c.

94mustang10298 -> RE: WOOT! ON ITS WAY!!! (6/28/2007 9:47:27 PM)

i wouldnt tune it until u had a cai, true dual exhaust full not just a catback, coil, wires, maybe some head work, and pulleys, and maybe some added nitrous or something if ur a risk taker....in my opinion its not worth getting a car tuned with 2 bolt ons..

V6MustangKnight -> RE: WOOT! ON ITS WAY!!! (6/29/2007 1:43:07 AM)

well, all the other bolt ons sound like a go....except for the nitrous.....i'm staying away from that.....

V6MustangKnight -> WOOT! ITS HERE! (7/2/2007 8:12:29 PM)

got it today and installed it, didnt take long and the car pulls a bit better now [:D] happy with the bbk CAI and next will be a full dual exhaust kit for my 6er, now the thing is which is right for me? i want something thats not obnoxious but sounds great when i get on the gas. any suggestions and if u all throw in ur 2cents can u put a link of what the exhaust would sound like? thanks!

xX98StallionXx -> RE: WOOT! ITS HERE! (7/2/2007 8:17:18 PM)

How much did you pay for it? I found my cai was just a shiney waste of money.. I coulda changed my stock intake around alil and made it work just the same.. It did help sell my car tho.

V6MustangKnight -> RE: WOOT! ITS HERE! (7/2/2007 8:20:50 PM)

its a BBK CAI and i payed roughly 178 without additional charges (shipping) i'll take some pictures later to show u what it looks like. i got it from rpmoutlet, and i know that alot of people dont like that site but it worked out for me (thankfully after all the horror stories i heard from some of u)

xX98StallionXx -> RE: WOOT! ITS HERE! (7/2/2007 8:34:48 PM)

Yeah... mine was like 230 after i finally got it... but i got more for the car than it was probably worth lol.

v6stang07 -> RE: WOOT! ITS HERE! (7/2/2007 8:42:00 PM)

well i would highly suggest getting the h-pipe conversion from american muscle then picking up the gt catback that u want, or just gettins some mufflers and have a shop custom fab u a set of duals

a short throw shifter would also be a good mod that should come before the tuner

V6MustangKnight -> RE: WOOT! ITS HERE! (7/2/2007 10:18:58 PM)

here are some pics after the installation, looks very clean [:D]
