Not to step on Magnaflow's toes here, but from my experience, a Magnaflow catted X-pipe and magnaflow (not magnapack) catback would be about perfect for what you're looking for. The difference is noticeable in the tone moreso than the overall decible level. Some people find it too quiet for their aftermarket tastes, which is when you can go to a much louder magnapack catback. Your mufflers SHOULD be changed out, as they are the most restrictive part of your catback. Unless you can find a shop to weld them in cheap, you may as well get the whole catback. Why buy a 2.5" mid-pipe that goes into a 2" catback? Also, with a new catback, you can always swap out the mufflers, which is a much more daunting task with welded-in mufflers.
