Hmm, the wax should come off pretty easily.  Were you applying it in the shade, and did you let the car cool down a decent amount of time in the shade after washing it?  With my black cars I let them sit about an hour so the surface is cool to the touch.

As for the streaks, maybe try some polish and rewax those areas?  Any pics of them?

It does sound like you used to much wax.  Did you apply it in the shade?  Try to use a quick detailer and wipe and see what happens.  This should help a lot.

Too much product, drying too long, not using good towels -- all make for a bad experience.

Some products work better if you apply in sections and remove as that section hazes -- look at the directions again -- carnaubas don't generally want to be dried very long, whereas synthetics are more forgiving.

If the product is hard to remove, either use a high quality 100% cotton terry or a microfiber with a special weave for product removal (usually offered in an edgeless design).

I had this happen to me with Meguiars Gold Class. Showed up really bad on the black hood. Used detail spray to get rid of the greasy streaks (looks like finger prints).

Switched to products from Obsessive. Light polish, glaze and wax. Worked well and no streaks!

I find that old T-shirts work the best for removing wax, they won't scratch your paint job like some low end towels and they tend not to streak as bad!! (and they're free... can't beat that)
