Well I have had my car for 2 years now and it just isn't satisfying my hunger for more power.

So I am stuck between a 96-98 cobra or a 01+ GT.
I am looking at a few and the prices aren't an issue...I have up to $13k to spend.

What you guys think? I'm gonna research it more and the pros/cons of each car etc... and by the beginning on August at the latest, I will have my new whip.

And for the questions that are going to come up, I am not parting out my car or selling my wheels, thank you lol.

I voted for the Cobra. Whenever I see a sn95 (or newer) Cobra I always wish that it were mine haha - I don't get like that when I see a GT.

Teh cobra is faster but the gt is more everyday, better gas mileage, you dont have to put premium into it.....if you plan to mod the car durr def get the cobra.  Looks also goes to the slobra

Yeah I was also leanin' towards the cobra, the engine is a 4v and also has about 40hp extra than the GT and assuming responds much better to mods.

Insurance might be a little higher, or about the same, I still gotta check into that, but gas mileage and the way i'm gonna be driving that thing might not make double digits haha.

Well, im probally gonna get bashed on this one, but if you arent just a ford guy you mite want to check into a C4. These cars have bottomed out in value. I've seen many in great shape sell for 6k-8k, and with some mods, these things can really get up and go. just an idea.

Cobra FTW.

The will both get very similar MPG.
They will both cost remotely the same for insurance.
The Cobra has 40 more bhp.
The Cobra is about half a second quicker in the 1/4 mile.
The Cobra responds 2X better to mods.
The Cobra will have a higher resale price in the future.
Cobra just sounds cooler than GT.

Yeah...the last reason is a good one too...
Instead of people being like ...
Some dude: "Hey, what kind of car do you drive?"
Me:              ... "A Mustang!"
Some dude: "Cool, is it a GT?"
Me:              ... "No, a V6. "

Everyone always asks if its a GT and then they go "Oh" when I tell them it's a V6...but maybe I could say cobra lol.

Now don't bash me for this, I am not too familar with the sn95s...do the cobras also have npi heads?

Not those, they have pretty much the same heads as all the later Cobras.

They don't have NPI heads. They're two different engines, the 2v and the 4v. Sure they're both 4.6's, but that's just the diaplacement. The 96-98 Cobras and the 99-01 Cobras are basically the same engine, just the 99-01 has a hair more power.

I'm on the fence of what to get, though. The power and potential of the Cobra is nice, but the new edges are just better looking. You have to ask yourself: "What are my power goals?" If your goal is 550ish (give or take) rwhp or under, get the GT. If it's anything over that, the 4v is the way to go.

By C4, I was speaking of the 1984-1996 Corvettes. Stay away from the 84s though.

actually, if you look into it further, a 99+ GT and SN95 cobra run the 1/4 in roughly the same time.  the cobra probably has it by a tenth, maybe two tenths.  they'll also both get about the same gas mileage.

also, who cares if you'd have to run premium in the cobra?  you act as though you wouldn't mod the GT and have to use premium anyway.
