I have a 1984 mustang gt.. it has a 5.0 302 SBF with stock heads and an edelbrock intake manifold.. the performer 289. I get up to about 3,000 ish rpm and i start to bog down.... it has a new carb, new fuel pump adn still does this sh*t... we think it happens when the secondaries open... but we are not 100 percent sure.. and one who can help..?? ps when it bogs down it doesnt bog then go... it just BOGS!!!
MY CARB IS A STOCK 600 CFM HOLLEY...there is no way it can be to big... aswell we also tryed putting in smaller jets and that didnt do anything... i ahve had a few people tell me it is running to lean which is the opposite of what you tell me... and the others say that because there is no back fire that tells you that the problem is not to much fuel... i ahve no idea.... what do you think about it now..??
i know i dont watn backfire but my friend who knows holleys said that if there is no backfire then it is not running to rich.... he said it would be to lean??
if any one has anything that can help i would be greatly apreciative... i had a thought today,,, might it be something to do with my EGR valve... teh adelbrock doesnt take it so i dont know.. maybe??

My son has a'72 Montego, 351 windsor with a 650 Holley on an Edlbrock performer intake, stock heads. Have you checked the timing advance with a timing light? On his, the carb. vacuum advance port was pulling the dist. to full advance when the throttle was opened. Wouldn't run worth a hoot. I drilled a 1/16th hole in the hose right at the dist. and it works perfect.
