Default GT Takeoff Muffler

I finally got it put on and you can tell the difference in the sound but i was just wondering for all of you that have the single if the sound will deepen at all? I turned it on and revved it up while there was no muffler on and it sounded AMAZING but i thought that it would probably not be the smartest thing to drive around without a muffler...

The sound will deepen as it gets older. And a tune will even deepen it more, somehow. I wonder why that happens?

Hi I just bought a used 2005, Mustang Convertible, 4.0, 5sp and I am interested in doing the same thing. Did you get it from newtakeoffs.com? Obviously only using the passenger side muffler? Does it line right up and jsut bolt on without problems?

Thanks for the input

I got mine from Saleen, but I think you could probably find a better deal. I don't know of anyone who will sell you only one. It's a true bolt on - there's no adjustment, no adapters, just take the old one off and put the new one on.

The only thing different is that the V6 muffler has three mounting brackets and the GT muffler has only two - you'll end up with "extra parts" if you do it right (unlike most of my projects, where I end up with extra parts by accident).

I've read other threads about aftermarket exhaust rubbing on the bumper, and unless the GT takeoff is bent, that's not a problem in this case.

All it takes is one wrench and about half an hour to do it.

Sounds easy enough I am going to try it out. The exhaust notes just seem like they are dying to come out of the car.By the way, one thing I noticed is that is sucks having a stock 6 when a fast car pulls along side of you and bust your balls. I know this is just the beginning of$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Oh well.

Try making a post in the GT section, asking if anyone is selling. I bought my pair for$70 plus shipping, with very few miles on them. You might do even better.

No problems with my install.
