On the way to a friend's house, her in the front seat, we see a riced out civic. She loves Mustangs and my car so she wanted to see me run someone the whole night. So it was perfect that we come across this little Civic. Sarah goes "f*** him up". So I wasn't gonna turn down the race even though I knew I was gonna waste some gas  so I drop it a gear and he doesnt do anything. Sarah goes "rev at him", so on the way to the next light I catch him, put it in neutral and rev to 5k. I hear him drop it a gear so I do the same. We were at a bout 55mph and I was in 2nd. So I honked three times, jumped ahead by about a car length, then he started coming up on me?! Whaat? A civic? So I stayed on it and he's right at my door, we're basically side by side. I shift into 3rd and pull ahead by less than another car length and shut down at the top of 3rd because some RETARD decides to pull out in front of me. So we get to the light and I'm like "That's nice man! Must have alot done to it" And he said the same. I ask him what he's done to it and told him good job for keeping up with me. I ask him if it's FI and he said he "No its NA" and that he dropped in a stock RSX engine and took off the intake tube  So I'm like RIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. We talked for a while inbetween lights, suprisingly he didnt try to hit on Sarah, which was cool of him. And he complimented on my car and said he loved the sound and all. He eventually turned off and honked as he did as to say see ya. It was just nice since I figured it would be some retarted ricer saying how he ran my V8 with is 4 cylinder and then he was gonna try and steal my friend (who would've slapped him in the face ha) etc.

And before you guys get on my case it was 1am and there were only 3 other cars behind us so it was for the most part, safe.

Also one question... how in the HELL do you get a Civic to run with my car by dropping in a STOCK RSX engine, only mod being no intake tube? I say it's bullsheeit... I don't think there was a turbo on it either or else it wasn't loud/big. What can get a Civic with a stock RSX swap to run that fast?

The K20 is a popular civic swap, google it. The new civics use that motor and the RSX's use it iirc as well.

lol i dont see whats so unbelievable about it?  its a simple matter of power to weight ratio.  the new edge's only made 260hp, and weighed what, 3400 lbs?  (im going out on a limb here, judging by your sig, and saying that your car is, for all intents and purposes, mostly stock)  the k20 from a civic si or an rsx-s is more or less a 200hp engine, and a civic hatch weight less than 2400 lbs.  a full half ton less than yours.  hes making arouns 170hp/ton while you are more along the lines of 150hp/ton

hp/weight is definetely not the last say as to what car is gonna be faster, but it definetely counts for a lot..

lesson learned, lol.

well the 02-05 Civic Si had the K20A3 with a 5 speed manual making 160hp and I forget how much torque. I want to say around 130tq. The base RSX had the k20A3 also. The same year RSX-S had the K20A2 with the VTEC making 200hp and a 6 speed. I've seen 02-05 Civic Si's in the low 13's on all motor with the K20A2 and bolt ons. Thats the one the civic guys are swapping in. Put that motor in a lighter shell than an 02-05 Civic Si hatch and you will run low 13's to high 12's all day. The VTEC is  what?????................madness.

Yeah that's pretty much one of the best stock motor swaps you can do for that car, and they're definitely quick with that kind of swap.  Imagine if he had a turbo on that thing, you would have been in for quite a surprise!

Imagine... All that time and money into a glorified economy car, and it is still not up to par with a S197 .

Yea I was really suprised when he said that he was all motor. It's still funny that he's invested so much into that car and yet it's still slower than my practically stock GT  Why not just start with a GT and spend as much as he did on it and have a decent car??? Oh well. I got my kill and got to show off lol

I can make a go-cart run high 11's too but that doesn't make it a cool ride.  That's what ricers don't get.  A fast grocery getter is still a grocery getter!  Notice who had the chick in their car?  Stang driver of course.  I have never met a girl who got excited about a riced vehicle but plenty who love stangs, vettes and to a much lesser extent camaros

Depending on what year Civic it was, he might have only spent $5,000 on the whole setup.  You can get Civic hatchbacks for well under $3,000 and an RSX-S motor probably isnt no more than $2500 or so.

Hey why don't you shut the hell up and let me enjoy my victory haha just kidding. But one thing that's still sad is all that time he invested in the car. Those little cars are hard to work on... everythings hidden and cramped up.

I know what you're saying about a fast, cheap, setup... I'm buying a rebuilt title 04 Mach (perfect frame, had it checked out) for $7k and throwing about $4k into it and hoping for high high 11's. I can't wait to run a Ferrari or something haha $11k vs $ALOT yet it's faster...

Alot of you guys use the term "ricer" in the wrong context.  A ricer isnt just a Civic with a nicely built motor and a turbo running 11's.  Or a 4 door Accord with a swap and S/C running 12's.  A ricer is a person who acts out when driving and mods his cars in ways a 3 year would mod his bedroom.  25 stickers, a 3 tier wing, multicolor fenders, painted black hood and called carbon fiber.  Sh*t like that is what makes a ricer a ricer.  Just because it has a Honda or Toyota emblem on it instead of a Ford or Chevy logo doesnt mean that the person is a ricer.  I love all types of cars, especially when they're hooked up right.  I've seen plenty of chicks driving turbo'd Civics and SRT-4's, and I've seen them drive Mustangs and GTO's.

I know what you mean.  I've seen alot of rebuilt title cars for cheap, but I just dont have the cash to throw down and there isnt any bank that will finance a car with a rebuilt title.  I seen an 04 Cobra that had water damage and had a rebuilt title.  It only had like 15,000 miles on it and it was going for like $12,000.  Needless to say, I wish I had the cash at that point.

I agree with you for the most part but usually those drivers have the big wings and stickers all over.  If this was a "normal" looking civic with justa motor swap then I guess I wouldn't classify it as a ricer but still is a grocery getter with motor swap

And again, a grocery getter?  I always classified grocery getters as 4 door cars, usually luxury or family cars.  I didnt think a Civic hatchback was a grocery getter.  I guess I need to wake up from my long dream or get back to reality or something.

and what you drive a damn race car? You never take your car to the grocery store? You have to get an import to do that? How do you eat then? Give me a break. Some people are so narrow minded its rediculous. I consider myself a car lover. I don't care who makes the car or how fast it can go. I respect anyone who can take a slow car and make it fast instead of getting one straight from the factory built that way. The result when a slower car spanks a car it is suppose to lose against is much more satisfying. Don't believe me check out the strip/street forum. I happen to own both a 02 boosted Civic Si (import) and a boosted stang(domestic). The Si was making 300hp, with a 2.0 as opposed to your 4.8 3valve, to the wheels. I have embarrassed alot of higher end cars and it was'nt riced out at all, it is a sleeper. The whole outer appearance remained stock looking except for a drop. Most people who don't know about or mod cars would expect the "insert car here" to beat the civic but you never know what the next guy has and thats what makes this whole hobby fun.

    Much of an ego there?

I can make a go-cart run high 11's too but that doesn't make it a cool ride.  That's what ricers don't get.  A fast grocery getter is still a grocery getter!  Notice who had the chick in their car?  Stang driver of course.  I have never met a girl who got excited about a riced vehicle but plenty who love stangs, vettes and to a much lesser extent camaros

I don't know about where you live, but all the hottest chicks I've ever seen that are into cars are all about imports or exotics.  Have you ever been to a HIN or SEMA show?  You'd know what I mean

Any time I go to a muscle car meet it's 90% old people and nasty old wives.  Even the younger ones tend to be questionable at best.  BUT, everyone has different standards I guess!
