On the way to a friend's house, her in the front seat, we see a riced out civic. She lovesMustangs and my car so she wanted to see me run someone the whole night. So it was perfect that we come across this little Civic.Sarah goes "f*** him up". So I wasn't gonna turn down the race even though I knew I was gonna waste some gas:)so I drop it a gear and he doesnt do anything. Sarah goes "rev at him", soonthe way to thenext light I catch him, put it in neutral and rev to 5k. I hear himdrop it a gear so I do the same. We were at a bout 55mph and I was in 2nd. So I honked three times, jumped ahead by abouta car length, then he started coming up on me?! Whaat? A civic? So Istayed on itand he's right at my door, we're basically side by side. I shift into 3rd and pull ahead by less than another car length and shut down at the top of 3rd because some RETARD decides to pull out in front of me. So we get to the light and I'm like "That's nice man! Must have alot done to it" And he said the same.I ask himwhat he's done to it andtold him good job for keeping up with me.I ask him ifit's FIand he said he "No its NA" and that hedropped in a stock RSX engine and took off the intake tube :eek:So I'm like RIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. We talked for a while inbetween lights, suprisingly he didnt try to hit on Sarah, which was cool of him. And he complimented on my car and said he loved the sound and all. He eventually turned off and honked as he did as to say see ya. It was just nice since Ifigured it would be some retarted ricer saying how he ran my V8 with is 4 cylinder and then he was gonna try and steal my friend (who would've slapped him in the face ha) etc.
And before you guys get on my case it was 1am and there were only 3 other cars behind us so it was for the most part, safe.
Also one question... how in theHELL do you get a Civic to run with my car by dropping in a STOCK RSX engine, only mod being no intake tube? I say it's bullsheeit... I don't think therewas a turbo on it either or else it wasn't loud/big. What can get a Civic with a stock RSX swap to run that fast?

The K20 is a popular civic swap, google it. The new civics use that motor and the RSX's use it iirc as well.

lol i dont see whats so unbelievable about it? its a simple matter of power to weight ratio. the new edge's only made 260hp, and weighed what, 3400 lbs? (im going out on a limb here, judging by your sig, and saying that your car is, for all intents and purposes, mostly stock) the k20 from a civic si or an rsx-s is more or less a 200hp engine, and a civic hatch weight less than 2400 lbs. a full half ton less than yours. hes making arouns 170hp/ton while you are more along the lines of 150hp/ton
hp/weight is definetely not the last say as to what car is gonna be faster, but it definetely counts for a lot..
lesson learned, lol.

well the 02-05 Civic Si had the K20A3 with a 5 speed manual making 160hp andI forget how much torque. I want to say around 130tq. The base RSX had the k20A3 also. The same year RSX-S had the K20A2 with the VTEC making 200hp and a 6 speed. I've seen 02-05 Civic Si's in the low 13's on all motor with the K20A2 and bolt ons. Thats the one the civic guys are swapping in. Put that motor in a lighter shell than an 02-05 Civic Si hatch and you will run low 13's to high 12's all day. Yeah that's pretty much one of the best stock motor swaps you can do for that car, and they're definitely quick with that kind of swap. Imagine if he had a turbo on that thing, you would have been in for quite a surprise! ;)

Depending on what year Civic it was, he might have only spent $5,000 on the whole setup. You can get Civic hatchbacks for well under $3,000 and an RSX-S motor probably isnt no more than $2500 or so.

Alot of you guys use the term "ricer" in the wrong context. A ricer isnt just a Civic with a nicely built motor and a turbo running 11's. Or a 4 door Accord with a swap and S/C running 12's. A ricer is a person who acts out when driving and mods his cars in ways a 3 year would mod his bedroom. 25 stickers, a 3 tier wing, multicolor fenders, painted black hood and called carbon fiber. Sh*t like that is what makes a ricer a ricer. Just because it has a Honda or Toyota emblem on it instead of a Ford or Chevy logo doesnt mean that the person is a ricer. I love all types of cars, especially when they're hooked up right. I've seen plenty of chicks driving turbo'd Civics and SRT-4's, and I've seen them drive Mustangs and GTO's.

I know what you mean. I've seen alot of rebuilt title cars for cheap, but I just dont have the cash to throw down and there isnt any bank that will finance a car with a rebuilt title. I seen an 04 Cobra that had water damage and had a rebuilt title. It only had like 15,000 miles on it and it was going for like $12,000. Needless to say, I wish I had the cash at that point.

and what you drive a damn race car? You never take your car to the grocery store? You have to get an import to do that? How do you eat then? Give me a break. Some people are so narrow minded its rediculous:eek:. I consider myself a car lover. I don't care who makes the car or how fast it can go. I respect anyone who can take a slow car and make it fast instead of getting one straight from the factory built that way. The result when a slower car spanks a car it is suppose tolose againstis much more satisfying. Don't believe me check out the strip/street forum. I happen to own both a 02 boosted Civic Si (import) and a boosted stang(domestic). The Si was making 300hp, with a 2.0 as opposed to your 4.8 3valve, to the wheels.I haveembarrassed alot of higher end cars and it was'nt riced out at all, it is a sleeper. The whole outer appearance remained stocklooking exceptfor a drop. Most people who don't know about or mod cars would expect the"insert car here"to beat the civic but you never know what the next guy has and thats what makes this whole hobby fun.

Are you kidding? Hondas are some of the easiest cars to work on, at least in my opinion, and on my integra. Everything is right there for the most part. I'm not a mechanic, but some of my friends are pretty handy and they just swapped me in a motor. They had the motor out of my car ina little morethan an hour and back in in about an hour with the most time bieng taken on swapping things off my old motor and putting it on my new motor. It seemed like it was a mostly stock motor in the civic. If that's all it was then it probably only took him or whoever did it less than 6 or 7 hours so he doesn't really have a whole lot of time wrapped up in it if you don't consider some brackets and mounts he may have needed to look for. Good kill and all, but you don't really hear of a lot of V8 owners bragging about killing an N/A four banger by less than a car, especially because the motor and car are stock for all intensive purposes.

I was going to say something similar. Obviously, this guy doesn't have experience working on different cars and is not a "car" lover. I do know from personal experience, you can change a clutch in a civic much faster than you can change the plugs and wires on an LT1. They are surprisingly not cramped for space.

What's wrong with a fast civic? You guys make fun of it saying "haha it's a grocery getter, or a economy car" well we got our cars to go fast or else we would of gotten a V6 right? Poeple who buy civics or any other import out there for that matter and do right work are no different really. It's just guys with motors twice the size that are just jealous that a car like that can actually run with them, who cars what it is, if it goes fast that is what would matter to me, or else like i said earlier I would of gotten a V6. It just depends on what poeple prefer, I wouldn't mind it in anyway just to see that faces I'd get when my little souped up 4 banger would blow away a V8.

Old thread but who cares. First the civics and such were built as economy cars conceived for the 70's when gas shortages happened. When people take those ecno box/grocery getting cars and try to make them fast , most(i guess me) V8 owners don't get jealous we think WTF. Why are you taking such a low HP car and doing a motor swap and spending tons of money to make it kinda fast. The dude in the story had a complete motor swap and lost to a stock new edge. With some decent bolt-ons for the New edge the race would have been a joke.
Anything can be made fast for enough money, but everything fast is not cool to look at(insert riced car here)

ok a new age mustang cost like lets say 15k well my buddy picked up a 92 civic cx hatch back for 1500 and he has like 15k in it wich is like a new age with bolt ons and he run 10.44@ 147 on the brakes cuz he dont have a cage and he put down 593hp and 463tq on pump gas making out 1000cc inj so look at the prices what would you rather have a $16,500 low 14sec new age or a $16,500 low 10 high 9 if he did not have to hit the brakes hatch back civic that still gets 25mpg if he does not hit boost ?????just my .02

****in awesome, remind me to give a ****. Now heres a fun fact youre a jackass for bumping old ass threads to tell mustang owners about your econo sedan gone racecar.
My first thought wasn't to check the date before I posted some of my personally experience on the issue, but who cares? Considering you felt the need to bump it further w/ some pointless negative comment that caused three other people to post in reply to bump it even more, who is the real jackass?

In all honesty I would take the mustang....yeah the civic is faster but lets just say a 92 civic hatch isnt my style.

*BUMP*
heh.. I agree.. there are tons of quick foreign and domestic cars that are faster than they should be.. look at blue beast.. if I saw him driving down the road I'd be like.. im gonna PWN this guy.. then I'd get wooped up on.. and although I've seen riced out neons.. his isn't one of them.. and after reading this thread I can see how someone can have fun with a cheaper car, make it fast for little money.. hell.. If i had any sense I'd have kept my old FWD Grand Am and just suped up an older cheaper car that I could easily afford.. now I'm back to living pretty much pay check to pay check with only a little going into savings.. so these guys could be more financially responsible and still be able to have fun... I love old threads:D

BTW I recently found out the price of a k20 swap into a civic hatch...7-8k minimum!!! apparently a lot of stuff doesnt translate so u have to swap axles, electronics, etc....it's cheaper and faster when you turbocharge a b18 motor apparently.

Its nice that you met a cool guy. It seems like around here most "tuner" guys are douchbags, if they were cool like that guy then I wouldnt mind the import crowd. Nice race

well the 02-05 Civic Si had the K20A3 with a 5 speed manual making 160hp andI forget how much torque. The VTEC is what?????................madness.
I can make a go-cart run high 11's too but that doesn't make it a cool ride. That's what ricers don't get. A fast grocery getter is still a grocery getter! Notice who had the chick in their car? Stang driver of course. I have never met a girl who got excited about a riced vehicle but plenty who love stangs, vettes and to a much lesser extent camaros
so its like saying SRT-4 are fast but still a NEON right, upsssssssss:D

ya it is a lot easyer to swap a b 18 in a older honda but if you have a 2001-2005 known as the basterd civic like i do the only swap you can do is a k20 or k24 thats why i bought a mustang i paid 16k for my civic new and to get a shop to put a k20 in my car is 10k so its not worth it to me
