I have 103, 5xx on my 97 and I seriously think it's getting stronger everyday. I don't have any problems at all. It really doesn't matter how hard you run it, as long as you maintain it aswell as you can. It's better to run it a little harder all the time, because then when you really want to get down on it it won't do the damage it would if you drove it like a granny most of the time. They say cars that are driven slow, asctually become incapable of opening up and being as fast as they should.

I think the engine in most mustangs should last to 200k, it seems pretty reasonable, but the thing is getting the rest of the car to last that long.

Who has a lot of miles on their 3.8L? The highest mileage 3.8L I've seen that's still running is 170k. Can these engines go to 200k+ like the average honda can?

#1 reason hondas make it that far. Old lady's drive them.
I'd love to see a car that gets it's arse kicked on a daily basis make it that far. The boosted or riced out ones I doubt make it to 200k+

A 3.8L Mustang engine or any domestic will make it to 200+ if taken care of. People forget that, beat the crap out of their cars, then cry when their car breaks down.

I've got 114K right now and don't see 200+ as a problem.

This is totally untrue. Most hondas are driven by kids that think driving is the Fast and the furious. I've seen modded ricers that get beat on daily with over 200k.

As for all engines lasting over 200k...?

Knew a guy who had an 02 cavalier.. it threw a rod at 82k. Oil was changed regularly.
My friend had a chrysler sebring. The engine caught on fire at 105k.
I had an 02 altima that ingested the intake screws into the engine. Died at 68k.

those cars must have been mistakes because ur storys are prolly 1 out of every 10 million may have a flaw like that but for the most part if u change oil and do regular maintance you  wont have any trouble

and as far as i know no matter how aggressive you drive your engine bay should never catch on fire

Dude, your an idiot.  Do you have any idea how many cars honda sells?  And how many of them are riced out?  You only think that because you only noticed the riced ones, i guarentee you see 100 hondas a day, and you can count on 1 hand the amount that are driven by kids who are beating on them.
