its problem after problem...there is not one particular problem that the car has.
right now... the car makes loud grinding noises under load...even worse when the A/C pump is on. It performs very poorly, even though they told me it drove great and i drove it out of SSV and noticed it was not right!

you sure were a defensive mofo when you bought that beast though. You see when they hand you your keys back after working on your NEW car for the 10th time and smile you know somethings up by then. Or maybe you know somethings up after the 4th time. Either way, sorry to hear about your probs. Just pray Saleen stays around long enough to fix everything or buy your car back.
Saleen should not be authorized to crack a brand new engine from Ford and sell it as new. This has been happening since the S351 days. We are not seeing any problems with the PJ cars because most of them have hardly any miles on them yet. Bummer really.
The guys at SSV even tell me they've had similar problems with the E's like the boost gauge going bad, but those cars have never been back since. Mine has been problematic ever since I bought it. The boost gauge has been replaced 4 times, my clutch has been replaced, my supercharger has been replaced, my entire rear end has been replaced, the flywheel has been replaced, the drive shaft has been replaced...but don’t get me wrong, a lot of these parts were replaced under warranty at the same time because when the car wouldn't go into gear, they tried fixing it a couple times and finally decided just to replace all the drive train except the rear diff, and transmission. The rear end diff was a different problem (gear hum). All the problems seemed to be smoothing out and becoming just small problems which I was hoping would just go away eventually, but now, I am pretty the belt slips again and something near the flywheel makes loud grinding noises under load. This is only some of my problems I have had…others are not as immense.
I’ve had erratic boost before, and the problem was in the tune, so it now has an 07 tune. It’s been under powered at times....the list goes on, but that is beside the point. I am upset right now about it because they sat there and told me the car seems to be running even better than normal and its really good and the someone took the car home for the weekend and everything was fine, except as soon as I drove it off the lot, I said to myself....something’s not right! On top of that, after this person drove the car home for the weekend, I turn on my head lights and the boost gauge and air temp gauge are two significantly different colors....Besides the fact that the car has 3000 miles on it and Saleen has put the majority of them on.
I have exhaust leaks and I was told it’s a common problem. Nothing against Saleen, I have a passion for them and am potentially a great customer in the future as they produce more cars, but I have this on my plate right now.
Saleen has been very helpful and been adamant about me being happy and doing all they can for me...so I have been very understanding and nice about the situations at hand...now I see some half ass work being done about this, and the car still is not fixed, so I am setting up a meeting with whoever....because I want some answers!
Bottom line....does any other E owners have similar issues? ...

Abbas had numerous problems immediately after picking up his "E" ride. His dealer did resolve.
Sam the Jeep Man had Saleen buy back his Extreme. Here is a quote of his:
"not trying to scare you, only relating what i have been through it was living nightmare, right to the minute they towed it away. from all my research and talks with saleen owners(especially extreme owners), seems like either you got a good one, or you got a bad one. with a bad one, no matter what is done with it as far as repairs etc, it will always be bad. the scary part, especially for east coast owners(who store them away for the winter), is the one year warranty !!!! i wish you luck with your vehicle, but don't let these problems be white washed away, by bulls---- from factory reps saying "this is normal, or there nothing wrong with that" !!!!
I still think it's a bummer since Saleen builds so few "E" cars and soo many owners have too many problems with them.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations Adam, but you are not alone - perhaps its time you make contact with Sam The Jeep Man and talk to him about how he went about his "buy back" It sure is discouraging to read about all the problems with these E cars that were supposed to be so bad ass
I hope it works out for you, and others (Db28 comes to mind) have had issues with their E cars. There is no excuse for poor quality, considering the premiums these things are bringing.
Good Luck.
As for the PJ's I've got 3k on mine with no issues, but other boards have multiple PJ owners and I'll keep everyone posted if issues start to come up.

well apparently i am the only E owner with this many problems, which makes your statement null and void correct?
i could see that a possibility of all the Extreme owners were like WTF.... but its just me!
It sure can feel like you're the only one experiencing problems when you're going through them. But as others have already said, several E owners have gone through the difficulties you are. The good news is you have a forum here so you aren't alone and you can get great advice from people who really know and really care.
I've said once before that I would not buy a late-model E, even if I had the money. Sam's comment about either they're good or they're not seems to ring true. It appears you've got a lemon. And I fail to understand why ANYONE would have to drive your car for the weekend, change a bunch of the settings, etc.to find out what's wrong with it. Especially when you could tell before you even left the lot! Can you say J-O-Y-R-I-D-E? Crazy.
If I were you, I'd spend some time talking to Sam The Jeep Man and then trade that sucker back for something that works. I don't think the PJs are going to suffer the same problems but Sam could tell you for sure -- he got one as trade for his lemon (and I don't mean yellow) E.
eek sorry to hear about all your problems. I wonder if all the problem cars could be traced back to one particular point, maybe one of the assembly teams? There seems to be a lot of hit or miss- some cars have no problems and others are dogs. So far I think I've been very lucky, not having the problems others have had with their E cars but I'm starting to wonder if lightning will get me too one day.

I really feel for you. When you buy a " top of the line premium priced car ", you would expect it not to be a piece of junk. I would contact Saleen and ask them, firmly, to buy it back. If that fails, consult your State Lemon Law and an attorney. Good luck.

how about this.... do you use the full potential of your car? do you use 11.5-12 lbs of boost? (all 550 hp) or do you drive it like a mercedes (persay)?
that may be an objectifying difference.
What i am getting at is if you actually DRIVE the car... the performance might be showing through on weak parts, whereas if you use your extreme as a show car or it sits in your garage, it might not have problems until the motor actually starts putting out 550 horses. ....

I agree. Spend 70-80K of hard earned dough on that car with a built bottom end and you should be able to feel confident about driving the piss out of it if you want to. Otherwise, what's the point?
That was the reasoning behind my PJ comment. We probably won't see too many problems with those cars for 2 reasons.
1. Most of the owners just putt putt them from the garage to car show. (EDIT) with the exception of ChuckDoc!
2. No blower. That will eliminate a lot of possible problems already.

Sorry to hear or read about your Problems with your 2006 Extreme. Believe me you are NOT alone. Read my post>> ALL 2006 SALEEN EXTREME OWNERS on this mustangforums. My suggestion is to get in contact with a LEMON LAW ATTORNEY in your state. Please do not trade it in & let some other person get stuck with the headaches you,me & all the other Extreme owners that have had problems with them. When it is labeled as a Lemon by the court system then the title has to reflect LEMON on it(like it's stamped on titles when they are SALVAGED). Usually the car will be sent to the dealers auction & sold cheap. Good Luck.

I will say that I do have an Extreme. When I picked up the car, I was having some major PCM problems but Saleen took care of that (Thanks to Billy Tally). My car has 8,000 miles and I do push the car literally everyday (love the torque). I have complained about the brakes squeaking and Saleen has ignored the issue so I am going to leave it as is for now. The glass and silver ring on the boost guage and temperature have popped off (no biggie) and I superglued them back on. The temperature gauge only works if if turn the car on/off twice. I dont get that problem. I have had the sensor replaced once but the same problem exists. My muffler is still not 100% but I have not had the time to take it in. I have come to the conclusion that compared to my 03 M3, the quality of the Mustang sucks BUT boy do I love the torque.
Thank god that the car is drivable and I dont have your problems as it is my only car and I do have to drive 40 miles one way to get to work.

Sadly, I don't get to take the car out as much as I'd like to be able to (I get a good drive once or twice a week). When I do have it out, I've got everything going full-bore, no 'Sunday driving' here. I live on the outskirts with tons of very lightly used concession and regional roads in my area. While I don't mind car shows, I'm not the type to pretty-up my ride just to let strangers ogle it (I get enough folks looking when I'm on the road)
