hello guys so ill get right into the story. I totally underestimated this ricer lol. It had dual exhaust, came up on it a stoplight and we went for a second. after that we decided to go to a closed street and really run it. we went from a stop and i instantly put about 2 and a half cars on him and held it for a good 6-7 seconds until he walked by me. we pulled over and turns out this guy has a twin turbo setup and over 18 thousand dollars done to this nissan! i lost by about 3 cars but im very proud that my intake/tune gt gave him a run. too bad im auto though :( so anyway my first death and not afraid to say i lost to a faster car with mods more than half the price of my mustang. happy racing guys and someone hopefully kill one of these for me :)

18 Grand? Wow, and he couldn't do more then a few cars on a 300whp automagic sled? ... so sad...

No offense...

well he didnt go into detail on what exactly he did to the car with 18 thousand dollars, but he definetly had those twins under the hood. I was kinda shocked that he told me that, then when he asked me what i had alls i could say was i had an intake and tune :)

300zx's are no joke. There were 2 versions sold one with twin turbo's and one N/A. It is a powerful car either way and definitely look awesome. However unless he had some very serious appearance mods then there's no way he spent anywhere close to 18g's and only beat you by a few cars. A stock tt 300zx would beat a stang by more than that.

hmm how so boomer? while they are 13.8 stock quarter mile and 5.6 0-60 but believe me he didnt have any appearance mods. it was a very loud car however, and alot of chrome under the hood as well as the twins.

Yuk I was dumb and didn't look at your sig being you have a 2006 gt. I can see a race between a 300zx and new bodystyle stang being close. I just made an assumption it was between 94-04 which a tt 300zx would rock if both were stock. But my guess would be it's 18 grand for the car altogether. A decent tt 300zx sells for 10+ grand so it would make more sense (to me atleast) that with a few thousand under the hood he was able to beat you by not too much. And you probably had the lead on him by a few cars to begin with due to turbo lag.

I'm not trying to say the dude didn't say that, but if he spent that amount of money on his car it should have been rediculously fast.

He could have had a lot more on his top end, especially if he had big turbos. If I'm not mistaken (which I could be) it seems like those modded supras get a real big second wind at about 120 mph. He might have needed to be higher up there to really shine. If you think about it, getting to 90 mph doesn't take a real long time, and he was able to put 3 cars on you in that short span. I think that's pretty impresive, myself, but not bieng familiar with the 300zx I don't know. Anyhow, I would never feel bad about losing to car with 18gs under the hood if he really did have that much in it.

Ive raced a 300TT, theyre pretty quick. I beat em well over a car length and that was to about 60/70 (my best guess, speedo hasnt worked in a while).

Well 18 grand into the car doesnt mean into the engine.  He probly had a 5k paintjob, a few grand in the interior, a few grand into the sound system, maybe a new motor (stock TT) for 4k, and a couple thousand in mods.  Thatd spend the 18 grand.  Those cars are pretty heavy as well, so it would take a lot for him to completely dust you.
