Default Hesitation after 1500rpm

My 2001 3.8 has experiencing bad hesitation after driving 1500 rpm to 2500rpm while accelarating hard/driving up hill. 2001 3.8 automatic. Privious post mentioned that the MAF. What is that? Mass air flow center? Mass air flow meter?

I am planing to replace air fileter/fuel filter and sparks this weekend. I might sususpect somesort of ignition problem because the hesitation is constant, but my car does not have timimg or distributor, right?

Anyway, i need some feedback.

That should help sounds like an ignition problem. Also could be the type of gas too. I had a similar problem when I filled up with Shell once and never again will I run that gas. Bonged down, stalled at intersections and could not start properly. Now I run Chevron and had no problems anymore car runs like a champ.
Could also be a dirty MAF as well check it out.[:'(][:@]

The MAF is just above the Air cleaner box. Pull it out and clean it.
